I ordered two of these cabinets for my company's office, and put them together by myself (am a "little old lady"). These come in two pretty hefty boxes per cabinet. Three out of the four boxes had no damage to the contents, but the 4th did, such that one side panel was slightly dented in the middle and a couple other pieces - a shelf and a back piece - also showed signs of stress, but less noticeably. Nevertheless the damage wasn't so bad that it interfered with assembly, and we'll find a way to hide the one panel where it's visually noticeable. I think the company who did the packing did about the best they could. There were *metal* pieces protecting every corner of the boxes. The stresses that couldn't be avoided were in the middle of the box: too much flexing applied at some point in transit. I can't see any way they could protect against that without making shipping costs outrageous. Overall I think it's pretty great value for money. Keep an eye on shipping charges, they're pretty high, but I think these are still worth it because they have actually-latching handles and beat other cabinets in available volume. Assembly was not at all difficult. Instructions are adequate. The only absolutely required tools are a utility knife for unboxing and a Philips screwdriver. A needle nose plier will be helpful for installing the handle because a cotter pin is part of it. Regular pliers or their equivalent might come in handy if there is a bent flange and you want to bend it back. Have a flashlight as well, so you can see the screw holes (this is really the most frustrating part) when working inside the cabinet or in a tight spot and light is restricted. Be prepared to have to get rid of a lot of styrofoam, and have a plan for recycling the cardboard. ... show more

Assembly took only a total of 2 hours over a period of 3 or 4 days. It is free standing with the back against the steps from the garage into the house. My wife and myself use it to steady ourselves up the steps until we can reach the grab bar I installed. We also use it to set groceries, 12 packs of soda etc. Due to layout constraints I did not install the doors. It more than meets our needs. I highly recommend this unit. ... show more

I ordered five of these cabinets for our small retail shop, and assembled all five by myself. They ship pretty well-packaged. Flat-pack with lots of foam and reinforced metal corners on the box so the corners can't get damaged. I only had damage on two of the five cabinets. Stuff like a small ding in an area that doesn't show, or a broken spot-weld in a place that doesn't affect the integrity of the cabinet once it's built. Overall I'd definitely buy these again. Great value for the money. You can assemble them by yourself if you have something like an empty box around - you really just need a "second person" to hold some of the flimsy metal pieces in place while they get screwed in. A box (even the box this ships in) works just fine to support any pieces. No second person needed really. These shipped a long way to no surprise that there's a few small dings and broken welds. Nothing that actually affects the cabinets in any way once they're assembled. After I assembled the first cabinet, the rest only took about 15 minutes each to assemble. The instructions are vague as other reviews mention but also the pieces are fairly easy to figure out. Really not that hard to assemble if you just look at it and think through it. Once assembled these cabinets are fairly sturdy. They can support a lot of weight as long as you don't put the weight right in the middle of any of the metal panels. This cabinet is perfect for my garage. Itโ€™s exactly what I needed for additional storage. It was reasonably easy to assemble with adequate instructions. I would prefer that it was a bit sturdier, but for the price, itโ€™s quite adequate.
