I’ve owned several action cameras over the years and the Insta360 GO Ultra stands out as the best all-around option for most people. The image quality is exceptional and rivals the best action cameras on the market regardless of size. Low light performance is equally impressive and finally matches the industry leaders. What makes the GO Ultra unique is its flexibility. You can remove the 53g camera module from the action pod and suddenly you have a tiny, lightweight camera that can be magnetically mounted almost anywhere. It can also be worn for POV footage in a much more discreet way than a conventional action camera. Battery life is very reasonable. The quick charge feature lets you top up to 80 percent in just 12 minutes with a power bank, which makes it easy to keep shooting throughout the day. Some reviewers have criticized the switch from internal storage to microSD, but I think it’s an advantage. Having the option to carry multiple low-cost cards means you effectively have unlimited storage without being locked into the fixed internal memory of past GO models. There are a few downsides. The action pod itself is still not waterproof, so only the camera module can go underwater. You also can’t swap batteries if you need truly uninterrupted hours of filming, although that’s a niche case. Finally, the module is slightly larger and heavier than previous GO models, which makes it a little less discreet, but the tradeoff is worth it for industry-leading image quality and features. Overall this is the most versatile and user-friendly action camera on the market right now. For anyone who values flexibility, portability, and outstanding video quality, the Insta360 GO Ultra is hard to beat.

I had been deciding between the Insta360 GO Ultra and the newer DJI Osmo Nano. I had both, but ultimately decided to go with the GO Ultra. I feel as if the GO Ultra is the more complete product, in terms of usability and features. I love all the different shooting modes and options I have when taking either photo or video (I really like live photos!). The portable screen/dock is in my opinion, way better than the Osmo Nano, I can grip it better and the size is compact but still portable. The magnetic mounts are strong, and I found that attaching the camera module to any magnetic post is a great way to get a good shot. As this is my first Insta360 product, I didn't have any issues with having different types of mounts across the same product line, but I can see how in the future accessory compatibility will be an issue. Picture quality is great, I like the options to quickly select between resolutions and frame rates, as well as how I can export at different bitrates depending on the platform I intend to share it on. Another point of concern I had was the overheating issue. At least with my camera, I have had zero issues with recording outdoors, continuously for at least 20 minutes without it complaining about overheating (Osmo nano did). It also doesn't get super hot to the touch like the other did, and really only gets 'hand warmer' warm at its hottest. All in all, I think this product is worth the 150 dollar step up from other action cams. All the features make me confident and ready for my vacations that I have ahead.

Wanted to get this for awhile but waited till black Friday sale. Great camera. This is what I asked for over 10yrs ago. Insta360 did it. Small tiny magnetic wearable waterproof wireless lav mic capable with image stabilization. YES. 🫵😉👍 Picture quality is good. Good colors contrast white balancing and iso. Low light performance is good. Audio quality is good is it top quality no but its good and the fact it has built in wind protect and you can connect wireless lav for that bump up in audio quality STELLAR. 😯 Image stabilization is good is it the best there is no but its good no more shaky video. One thing with wearables body cameras they all lack image stabilization which makes no sense. Just walking around creates shaky unuseable videos. 🧐 Its waterproof no worries if it rains a drink spills take it to the beach go underwater yeah no problem. Battery life is good. You can actually record for awhile. Does it get hot its warm but no overheat it doesn't shutdown in 5 mins. 😀 The dock let's you have a screen longer battery life charges the little camera the body has a flip up screen numerous amounts of control many features like manual adjustments for picture. THE action camera has finally arrived. Love it. 🫡👏

I wanted a small, inconspicuous POV camera and had the GO 3S for a short period of time. I didn’t really feel comfortable with its shortcomings with battery life, no micro SD card slot, poor low light performance, no HDR, no 4K60, no ambient sensor, and a few others. The GO Ultra addresses those shortcomings. Battery life with the standalone camera is noticeably better from my usage but I need to play with the settings more to find the optimum setting for maximum battery life. I’m getting around 45 min with continuous recording on 4K30 which is better than the GO 3S’ 31 min on the same setting. The Ultra doesn’t get as hot either, but it does get warm however, it still allows you to charge it where the 3S would have to wait until it cooled down before it would charge. Speaking of charging, the battery charging is so much faster with the Ultra vs the 3S whether it’s the pod charging the camera or charging the pod with the camera. The camera is small, and so the battery is small, so I can’t really expect the standalone camera to run all that long by itself so I bought a 20,000 mAh power bank for backup since the 512gb micro SD card is estimated to have space for 10+ hours of video. UPDATE: there’s a new charging base that will attach to the camera while on the pendant and charge while recording. This will be a game changer for battery life. The video is noticeably sharper with better color and the HDR works very well. A recent firmware update allows the ambient sensor to automatically change video settings for optimum recording which is quite convenient. The camera starts recording very quickly with a press of the button or with voice control. There are quite a few settings to customize your camera and make editing easy. AI highlights assistant is pretty useful as it will analyze video while you record and select scenes to make editing easier. I feel the improvements over the GO 3S make this a worthwhile upgrade. I’m sure the Ultra will get better with future firmware updates, but just keep in mind that the battery life is better, but not amazing, and you’ll need to buy new accessories as it only includes a pendant and hat clip with the standard bundle.

This camera is not only super cute but such nice quality and so portable. Insta360 did such an amazing job with the included accessories. I was on the fence about which Insta360 model I wanted but when I saw this collab, I knew it was this one. If you love Hello Kitty, you will not be disappointed. I've mainly been shooting outdoors in sunlight, and I really love the quality of the videos.

The video quality, stabilization, and feature set are fantastic. Unfortunately, I cannot overlook the severe phantom battery drain, and had I known about it beforehand, it would have been a deal-breaker for me. The camera module appears to lose roughly 10% of its charge per day while sitting idle. As the camera discharges, the charging dock periodically wakes up and recharges it. This creates a continuous cycle that slowly drains both batteries, leaving the camera and dock completely depleted after about a week of non-use. In practical terms, if you don't use the camera regularly, you'll need to remember to recharge it every 7–10 days just to prevent it from sitting dead in your bag. This is especially concerning because lithium-ion batteries do not benefit from being stored fully discharged. Repeatedly allowing sealed, non-user-replaceable batteries to reach 0% can accelerate long-term battery degradation and reduce the overall lifespan of the product. Insta360 urgently needs to address this with a firmware update, such as a true deep-sleep or storage mode that minimizes standby power consumption. Until then, this issue significantly undermines what is otherwise an excellent camera. Think about it: the entire purpose of a small action camera is to be ready when a moment worth capturing happens. If the camera is frequently dead when you reach for it, that convenience disappears. No matter how impressive the image quality is, a camera that constantly needs to be recharged between uses becomes difficult to rely on. I am currently working with Insta360 support and will be shipping the unit back for warranty evaluation. I will update this review once that process is complete. If Insta360 is able to provide a fix, replacement, firmware update, or another satisfactory resolution, I will gladly revise my opinion. However, if no solution is available and a refund is not offered, I will ultimately have to stop using the device because it simply is not reliable enough for its intended purpose. Reliability is one of the most important characteristics of a compact action camera, and a device that is frequently dead when you need it defeats the entire purpose of owning one. If you don't want "charge the camera I haven't used" added to your weekly to-do list, you may want to consider other options.

I purchased the Insta360 GO Ultra in November because I had a lot of travel planned and wanted a camera that could capture everyday moments without requiring much thought or setup. Its small size, battery life, and ease of use were especially important to me. The camera has been extremely convenient. I often wear it using the magnetic pendant, and people regularly ask what it is because they are surprised that such a small device is actually a camera. Unfortunately, after about three months, the camera stopped charging and became unusable. I was very disappointed and initially considered requesting a refund. However, after contacting the seller, I learned that Insta360’s after-sales service could help. After several messages with the support team, they asked me to send the camera to Hong Kong for inspection and repair. They explained that if the problem was covered by the warranty, the repair and shipping costs would be waived. At the time, I was in Brazil, where importing and exporting electronics can be complicated. My next trip to a neighboring country was four months away, but the support team kindly confirmed that I could wait and send it later. Once I arrived in Peru, I shipped the camera. It reached Hong Kong in about a week, was repaired within a few days, and was shipped back shortly afterward. The issue was fully covered under warranty, and I did not have to pay the repair or shipping costs. I am very happy to have my Insta360 GO Ultra working again. I am also very pleased with the experience. Get this camera so we can support companies like this so they can be around for a long time.
