Way to insane, so much better with others

  • Hands down the best :30 minutes of your day!
Background I've been hitting Crossfit / Oly Lifting for a while now, and was happy. However, felt that it started to get staid, and I wasn't pushing as hard as I used to. Decided I'd pair my oly lifting (heavy intervals) with some serious metabolic conditioning/dynamic strength workouts in order to achieve a better body comp/athletic power physique vs. a bulky lifter. I remembered my P90x workouts were pretty good, and specifically felt Kempo X was quick paced and fun. After doing Kempo X for a week, I then thought, are there other workouts like this?!? I did a little research and found Insanity Max :30. I had heard the brand "Insanity" many times before, but always thought it's probably too extreme. However, when I realized it didn't require equipment, had a :30 min commitment/day, contained great dynamic movements; it peaked my interest further. I pulled the trigger and it's been great! Quick Review Insanity Max :30 requires zero equipment, and delivers highly dynamic and effective full body workouts in :30 minutes. The "modifier" program incl. is very good for beginners, but the heart of this program is doing the full dynamic range, fast paced workouts. While the moves are certainly tough, they change so often, you're never "bored" or feeling like you're wasting any time. Also, the idea of "Maxing Out" at your own pace (mental compass of progress) is a good way to keep you motivated and know you're getting something out of it. Net, if you're at the very least putting that "Max Effort" in (i.e. sweating like crazy), and hitting your maximum heart rate, you know you're golden. In addition to the content, the format of each workout helps encourage you to make it to the next mini-session within the larger :30 min. block. It's like mini-accomplishments every 20 - 30 - 60 seconds etc, you take a break, and get back into it quickly. It's very tough especially if you're pacing at the same rate as Shaun T, but its bite size format, and consistent breaks allow you to feel like you "win" continually. I'd venture to say the format and delivery of the content is about as impt. as the content itself. Nutrition I get what they are saying in the Nutrition Guide, but personally feel that doesn't fit my lifestyle. I don't like eating throughout the day, I personally like the Warrior Diet best, and keeping it to maybe 1 - 2 meals a day, end of day (4 hour window). I do use supplement pre/post workout, because it's silly not to make sure your body has the fuel and amino acids to rebuild and avoid accelerated catabolism, so do recommend you take some BCAAs/Glutamine if you're hitting it very hard everyday. Not into the "Shakeology" being sold, and instead use Amino 1 and/or Optimum Nutrition products, all pretty good stuff and cost effective. Value / Does it really work? I think for less than $100 delivered to your door step, it's no brainer. In the week I've had it, I'm already seeing the layers of stubborn fat / extra padding as a mesomorph-endormorph body type has lessened noticeably. Recommendation I do not recommend this workout if you don't like doing workouts with intensity. Tenacity and commitment is required to push through each workout, even if they are pretty short. If you're the type who likes to go at a moderate pace (not stress, go slow, and/or are injured), you're better off saving the cash. I do highly recommend this workout for anyone serious about getting fit, strong, and ripped; all done by your body weight, on a workout mat, in an effective :30 mins a day, and willing to face each session with a warrior-like tenacity to get it done to show em' guns! : ) ... show more

  • Great Program and remix of original Insanity!
I have been a fan of the original insanity workout series for years and although I sometimes will do a workout here and there since completing the program I found myself getting out of shape again. I am an avid weight lifter but as I get older (now 42) It gets harder and harder to lose the spare tire around the mid section so I decided on the Insanity Max 30 to see how it compares to the original Insanity. First off I will tell you it's just as challenging if not even more so far. If you are new to Insanity or have not done an extreme workout like this before you will be EXTREMELY SORE the first couple of days but it will go away you will have to push through. I have only completed the first week but I can already notice my stamina increasing and just seem to be thinking clearly I will update after my first month. If you are thinking about buying this don't think just buy it before you talk yourself out of it! ... show more

  • WORTH IT. 20 LBS down and counting!
I'd never tried anything by Beachbody before. I hated the name of their company, I prefer to work out at the gym, and I hate watching super fit people jump up and down in workout videos without a single jiggle of their rock hard bodies or a single pause for breath. NOT REAL. But when I'd put on fifty pounds after a car accident threw my back out of whack and made going to the gym impossible I was willing to do anything to get strong again. Max30 has been a life changer. I completed the 2 month program, dropped 15 pounds and 4 inches off my waist and I could do pushups. On my toes. At my fittest, playing two sports back in high school, I could never do push ups. I'm now 3 weeks in to my second time through the program and the weight loss total has bumped up to 20 lbs. I've lost 6 inches off my waist, gone down 8 dress sizes and 4 pant sizes. I'm also just ridiculously strong and can run again without pain, or shortness of breath. The beauty of this program is that its BRUTAL, but only 30 minutes long and you're encouraged to take breaks once you max out. I can suck it up and manage just about anything for 30 minutes, and it DOES get easier each week if you push yourself and take care of your body. Besides that, and especially coming off of an injury like I was, it was great that all the workouts feature a modifier track that you can follow until your body gets strong enough to support higher impact exercise. Something that really resonated with me, as well, is that each of the "models" or "instructors" featured in the workout video maxes out. There's a giant chalk board in the room they're working out in and when they can't go any more, they run to the chalkboard and write their time down with their name. Even Shaun T maxes out a couple times. At the end of each workout, the cast lines up and each one steps forward, says their max out time, and what they could improve while the cameras play a clip of them maxing out. You SEE all of those unbelievably fit people fail. And as you get better, your max out times start to surpass them. The day I beat Shaun T at the cardio challenge was the most satisfying workout of my life :) All in all I would recommend this workout for ANYONE. Anyone can do it in some capacity. You may have to modify, but you can do it. You'll get stronger and feel better about yourself. It will SUCK at first. It's NOT easy, ever. I've had a lot of "face down in the carpet" moments since starting, and I'll probably have several more. But it's worth it. You have to want it. You have to put in the effort. But it's worth every penny, and every minute I've spent. ... show more

  • Great workout
Comfortable doing this in my own house and time. It’s a great workout if your new to it. They have alternate moves incase you can’t do the main move that is harder. Which is why I got this because I’m not as young as I used to be. I really love this workout it is harder than I thought but worth buying and having a good sweat and I’m glad I got it. ... show more
