Sure, you could use it for a webcam. But I was looking for something to hold my phone for Teams and Zoom calls when I'm traveling, so that I don't have to haul my laptop everywhere. I have a phone clamp that has a standard tripod thread, and which attached perfectly to this stand. The stand can be used with, or without, the gooseneck. For my purpose, I'm using it without. Attach phone clamp, adjust height, and presto! This thing is heavy duty. The base is a solid block of steel, threaded to receive the riser which is also heavy duty steel. Three degrees of freedom on the mounting head. Adjustable height. Really, really high quality. For travel, I disassemble the riser from the base, put it in a 1 gallon zip lock bag to keep it all together, and throw it in my suitcase. It also allows me to use my phone as a convenient second display, sitting above my laptop screen. Perfect for watching the game while I'm working down below! And the base is so solid that tapping the phone screen doesn't knock it over. Or even try to. It's a bit heavy if you are looking for something to toss in a backpack to carry around every day. But for a semi-permanent mount, or for something that you can travel with, this is a wonderful product! I can't recommend it highly enough!

So far I really like this desktop webcam stand. This has a weighted base to keep it steady, an adjustable height pole & an additional flexible neck for added height and camera angle options. If you create content where you want the camera to be close & overhead of what you are doing, I think this will work well with smaller web cams & even a GoPro. For heavier cameras or lighting the flexible goose neck may not be stiff enough. It does hold my Note8 at an angle using a phone camera mount (not included), but the weight of that seems to be pushing it. As I have a convertible standing desk the placement, height & angle needs will change depending on how close I want the camera (so it does not show my messy room) and if I am seated or standing. I had previously tried a clamp on long goose neck mount, but that did not work that well for my setup. This seems to really work well for my needs. I can also place this behind my monitors on my desk when I want this out of the way. In the images I posted my monitors are 27" and the bottoms sit about 8" off the desk, so as you can see this gets pretty tall for a desktop mono-pod. At this point I have 0 complaints and am happy to have purchased this for my setup. Finally found something I like :-)

I purchased this based on the description and other reviews. The stand is everything I expected and more. It's well-built and very sturdy. It's heavier than the 1.3lbs the description said (at least I believe it is) and that's a good thing. The flexible arm is strong and doesn't droop. It only came with one washer to tighten the ball joint so use that under the ball instead of under the flexible arm. Overall a great value.

I purchased this stand to use with my Logitech 920 webcam. Great value and very versatile. The base is very sturdy, the stand allows you to adjust the height of the webcam, and a flexible neck is added for further versatility. Great buy!
