Clunky, Unintuitive, limited, and terrible EQ; Come for the Nostalgia alone.
Interesting device, with interesting specs that I haven't fully uncovered and isn't covered anywhere. Pros: -Love the hand feel, it feels light and sits nicely in the hands. Always been a fan of these fully rounded edges that go from front to back. -Very good display... it's an IPS panel with more than enough pixel density that makes text nice to read and you're not counting the pixels like it's a TI calculator from the 90s. Meh -Music Playback; it plays it, and took about 2 minutes to curate my playlist of about 1500 songs and 100 podcasts. Which is about 22GB of data on a V30 card with a max Read of 100MB/s and write of 90MB/s, San Disk as well. -"Clickwheel" on the one hand it works as suspected, but you learn audibly, that it registers your turning, but VISUALLY, it ain't registering your scrubbing through a list. -Shuffle Mode: It's a proper shuffle mode, it will always start at a random song. Though, weirdly; if you pick "SHUFFLE" from the song list section, the icon doesn't show up in the now playing and displays the "Sequential Icon" (two arrows on top of each other pointing to the right). Shuffle's icon is the repeating icon (if you have that on and an "R" for "RANDOM" I guess). It's not the typical and universal two lines crossing over each other. Also, pretty sure when I went forward and then wanted to go back, it didn't go back to the previous song and instead went to another random choice... Interesting... on the fence with how I feel about that. It's unique and is a TRUE shuffle mode, which a lot of these aren't. Spotify and old Samsungs would "SHUFFLE" the most played songs, which if you fell asleep to shuffle mode, would obviously skew the stats to the songs Spotify and Samsung were shuffling while you slept. It got to the point where i was successfully naming the next "RANDOM" song, especially with old Samsung. Not here. Cons -UNINTUITIVE as heck. Took me forever to find the location of everything. Sometimes "Shuffle" wasn't set, then 16hrs later with the device found the settings for MUSIC PLAYBACK, hiding all the way at the bottom of the top menu in the music section. Getting back to the "Now Playing" seems to show up in some themes, not all. Then finding the EQ, which thankfully this has one, was hard to find as well. Though, there were some nice comforts in this section. This becomes a problem when you realize some settings are hiding behind the secondary features of the top and bottom icons on the clickwheel, via holding. I was listening to a song, and since it was before I knew how to universally set "SHUFFLE" -Themes not dynamic or made with light backgrounds in mind. This doesn't have a particularly bright screen, it's just BARELY visible outside, if you use a light background. Some of the themes use WHITE texts so when switching to those themes Also the themes BARELY change anything. Do you really care what the "icon" image looks like in the right side? If not, then these themes become redundant. -No favorites? You can't easily favorite a song. -Now Playing is super limiting. Since this doesn't have a touch screen, the scroll wheel does nothing. Pressing and holding the "RETURN"/"MENU" only brings up AB Repeat where you can loop a section of the song or podcast, never understood this feature. Wished the Menu would open up; "Add to Favorites"/"Delete"/"Remove from playlist" etc like options not just be a shortcut to the "AB REPEAT" feature. It's also not like you can clip that section for "mixing" purposes later. -EQ; I tested this with my favorite IEMs, the KZZ AS12, and man talk about turning a nice (not super nice) set of headphones it cheap sounding ones. The base EQ is muddy and flat and I naturally don't have an ear for that. Though with that said, it did drive those to PAINFULLY LOUD, so clearly there's some sort of magic going on in the back, that these can drive more power hungry headphones than my IEMs are. That's a good thing. None of the EQs made it sound better and I didn't see a "CUSTOM" option. Oddities: This is a random section that may or may not be useful to others. -Android; this thing is running a heavily skinned and locked down Android. Couldn't tell which version from the build prop, but they're all here. Countless of useless APKs, you don't have access to, and a lot this device isn't using like "CAMERA", meaning it's bloated. Could run better if it were a custom LINUX OS like Hiby OS is on the R1s. -MediaTek Chipset... From what I can tell, this is interestingly enough using a Smartwatch brain in it, which with ARM 7a based when most of our phones are Arm v8a based. Probably making it 32bit instead of 64 like most phones are. -Specs are confusing. I went to their site, looked at the manual, and you quickly realize the Y2s don't have a manual. It quickly changes into the Y1 manual. Now, OS wise... I don't know if there is any difference. You'd think there would have to be due to the external SD support. Though, the Y1's "internal Storage" is like old Android devices and is secretly a MICRO SD Card being used as internal storage. Conclusion Hmm... On the one hand, it's so clunky and unintuitive due to lack of a touch screen, that it's hard to recommend. On the other hand, it's great in the hand, and there are at least 5 alternative OSes you can flash, but then breaks BT functionality. Which this has DECENT SBC only seemingly codec support which is between FM Radio and CD quality sound. It leaves a lot on the table, that's not making it into your ears. On the other hand, the upgrades to this from the Y1 are staggering, and yet priced the same. Also I would personally recommend, if you have an abundance of them, like I do; buying the flat 8GB model for $15 cheaper at $65, then bringing your own SD card which will more likely be of better read and write quality than the one you're buying for $15 from them. I like the novelty of this, but the functionality is painful. The other problem is, at this price point you can get a Joliker which is a properly fleshed out Android DAP, about the same size, with a 4in touch screen, and operates much like an Android phone with Playstore support. I bought this for the 5.3 BT support which it does have and doesn't suck, though can't remember anything to save its life. Reconnecting to previously connected devices, I've been forced to "Forget" the device and start the re-pairing process all over again. Much like Joliker which also uses a MediaTek chipset, but only has a BT 5.0 connection. ... show more

It can be improved.
The playlist system needs improvement; when you manage to import, it doesn't respect the order.

Decent “iPod”
Is cool with the themes and pirating spodify songs then putting them on here. Is subtle false advertising since there is no fm player. Blue tooth works well I'd say, am using beats fit pro. For the size of it, the speakers are decently loud. Now I gotta say the themes as of July 14th 2026, some of the ones I wanted off the innioasis app did not same all the files for the theme I wanted, not to sure if that's cause the themes are made for the y1. ... show more

Awesome
The ONLY thing I would change is the lack of ability to scroll indefinitely regardless of which menu you're on, and also it would be nice to be able to add and edit playlists through the computer while reading the memory card.
