  • Worth it with a good router.
Over all product works well, just be sure to have a good router. At first I was experiencing connectivity issues when used outside. I had it next to my Inkbird Smart Sprinkler Controller which never lost connection. After installing a new router the IBS-TH3 has worked flawlessly. At first I had it reading at it's fastest refresh rate (every ten minutes I think it was) which burned through batteries pretty quick. It is now set to read once an hour, has been running for a few months now and have not needed to change the batteries yet. ... show more

  • Good sensor some concerns
The sensors work well using them with the Tuya app for Home assistant but slightly concerned the reading may be off. And adjusting the offset does not seem to do anything in Their app and the tuya app

  • Great product, great price!
The first thing I noticed when I opened the box was how well the product was packaged. The packing foam was tight, yet cushioning, so the box would have to undergo a lot more than the usual shaking during shipping to sustain any damage to the device (i.e. the box would need to be crushed, or exposed to water or extreme heat). The packaging may seem like a small factor, but it is the first step to ensuring the device is working properly when you get it. The next thing I noticed was the devices compact size. Just looking at it, I’d put the dimensions at around 3x3x.5 inches, which is the perfect size for general purposes. Some more specialized applications may not be able to use this size, but for most purposes it’s great. After I took the device out of the packaging and read the manual (which, by the way, is very easy to read and is very clear on what you need to do to connect the device to your phone), I started the connection process. In the user's manual, there is a QR code to download the INKBIRD app. Simply scan the code, and download the app. As far as the app itself, I noticed how easy it is to navigate and use. It is very simple, not to the point of being almost pointless, but just to the point where anyone would be able to easily navigate it. The first device I tried was an iPhone 7, which was running iOS 15.7.1. I was unable to connect the devices, which I assume was because I had not updated the iPhone since it was purchased. The second device I tried was an iPhone 13, which was running iOS 18.6.1. I was able to connect that one with very little difficulty. After that, it was very simple to review the temperature that the device was reading. From what I could tell, the device was very accurate, and at the very least it was no less accurate than the user's manual stated it would be. As far as the usefulness of this device, it’s not specialized for reptiles (my hobby) so outside of that I would have no idea of the uses. For reptiles, this device is great for most sorts of ambient temperature reading as well as relative humidity reading, humidity being more important for reptile enclosures since you want to measure the surface temperature and this device only measures ambient. It is great for keeping tabs on the ambient temperature and humidity levels in enclosed spaces, like refrigerators (for mealworm keeping) and incubators (for breeding). There is a bit of advice you are going to want to follow if you are using this device for a reptile or invertebrate egg incubator. In most of these animals, when you incubate them the eggs are in moist medium inside a Tupperware-type container and are placed inside an incubator, a device designed to keep the temperatures of the eggs at the optimum levels. As an example I will use leopard gecko eggs, since those are what I have bred, but this will apply to pretty much everything. These eggs need to be kept moist, but not wet, inside their egg boxes. Some people recommend a certain level of humidity inside the egg boxes, but this can be very misleading. As long as you have the water levels correct, and the ventilation levels correct (for leopard geckos, either none at all and opening the container once a week, or one-two pinholes), and the heat at the right levels, the humidity levels will be correct. BUT, if you use a hygrometer to measure the levels, it is very likely that the hygrometer will malfunction before long due to the high humidity levels necessary. So for reptile breeding, use a waterproof probe for the inside of the egg boxes, and don’t bother with a hygrometer. Just be very diligent to ensure that the three conditions mentioned above are met. This device IS great, however, for the ambient temperature and humidity inside the incubator itself. This is less useful for reptile and invertebrate eggs, but for bird eggs this is absolutely essential. So, overall, I'm rating this device 5/5 stars. Good job, INKBIRD, on a great product at a great price. ... show more

  • Sucks down the batteries.
While this finally gets rid of the atrocious gateway that so many companies like making you purchase, I don't understand how the battery life is so abhorrent. With good connectivity and 10m updates, it will go through batteries in about a month or so, maybe a bit longer. Now why this doesn't just reduce the update rate to the online servers, I don't know, but it's both the update rate to the servers and how often it measures. It should be able to measure locally without turning on the WIFI and then upload it in batches, but it doesn't. This is a huge glaring flaw in the product which means you need to reduce the measurements to once every 1 hour or even longer, which is when it starts becoming pointless to even measure anything in 4 hour intervals or so. This should be pretty cut and dry where it wakes the device up to only measure then sleeps again, then bulk updates, but it doesn't. The batteries in their bluetooth variants can last upwards of six months, so the only big difference is the wifi. That's with 1 AAA vs 3 with this device. There are definitely some issues they need to fix here. ... show more

  • Excellent as a stand-alone sensor or addition to your INKBIRD suite of products
I already use two INKBIRD ITC-306A wifi temperature controllers on my reef tanks, so I was already familiar with the superb build quality and easy-to-use, free App that controls and monitors the INKBIRD products. The wifi thermometer and hygrometer monitor sensor is an obvious addition to anyone who wants to monitor humidity and temperature in either a single room, or multiple rooms. The sensor is small and attractive, usually blending in to the surrounding decor. I placed the sensor in my fish room for a few days, then in the baby nursery for a few days, and then placed it down in the basement. After reviewing the data logs of temperature and humidity readings I was able to place my dehumidifier in a more effective spot within the home. You can also use more than one of these sensors if you want to consistently monitor multiple rooms at a time. The App makes it easy to name each sensor and distinguish what data logs apply to which room. The one variable with these sensors I was unable to test was battery life. In the App you can designate how frequently you want the sensor to take a reading of the temperature and humidity. The more often the sensor takes readings, the faster you will drain the batteries. However, the sensor takes three AAA batteries and the panel on the sensor is quickly and easily removed with no screws standing in your way. If battery life is important to you, I would recommend setting the sensor to take frequent measurements when initially set up (so you can get a sense of how the temp/humidity are fluctuating) and then once you have enough data, you can change the frequency to longer intervals to extend the life of the batteries. Overall, this is an easy to setup and use temperature and humidity sensor I would highly recommend! ... show more

  • It works as advertised
It was very difficult (for me) to get the notifications to work. I had to install and reinstall the app several times before the notifications came through. Not sure if the issue was on my side or the product. I am happy for the piece of mind monitoring my house temperature while we are away.
