  • Great tool
Size: One Size
****Update 1/2/2013**** I have used this impact gun a great deal since my last review, and this gun is still holding strong. I recommend you purchase the IR air tool oil. I did buy the protective boot for my gun, its red and takes regular abuse (gun occassionally gets tossed to the side un-intentionally while I'm working) and my impact gun is still looking great! I use this gun for A LOT of different things, most recently: Busting off the bed nuts on my GMC project truck (nuts were rusted), leaf spring removal, front suspension A-Arms, Honda suspension rebuild: McPherson strut removal, sway bar, hub-bearing removal and install (this was so sweet, i bought the bearing kit on Amazon as well), I can go on and on. You wont be disappointed with this gun, for the price and performance, you cannot beat it. Note: I grew up fixing cars with my dad, so a word of advice from someone who has been doing this a while: Don't skimp and use your regular sockets with ANY impact gun. Spend the money on real impact sockets and use impact grade U-joints and extensions. Regular sockets WILL crack because of their thin-wall design and are simply not up to the task of taking abuse from an impact gun. You cannot put a price on your safety, and ER visits because a shard of shattered socket flew in there should not be in your plans. I still stick with my opinion that if you choose an impact gun, make sure it is serviceable (can be opened up and you can purchase a rebuild kit for it) this alone will ensure your gun will be around for years and years to come. A lot of the other guns i shopped for were of a sealed/riveted design, and wont allow servicing should you need it. ****I highly recommend this gun to others.**** Gentlemen, I recently purchased this impact gun, which would be my first. I must say that i love the power. I use it for tire rotation, brake jobs, crank pulley bolt removal, etc. The torque is great; I can't even turn lug nuts any further than this tool can by hand. The power selector knob is great for varying power to the socket. I bought the IR 14pc socket set (metric), which by the way, are beautiful! too bad the finish gets messed up as you use them. I chose this gun over a Craftsman impact, the particular one could not be rebuilt with a kit like this one can. Beutiful aluminum finish on the body, I think I will buy a protective boot for it. ... show more

  • 231C vs 2130 Comparison
Size: One Size
I've had a cheap Husky impact for quite some time. It wasn't overly powerful so I was looking for something a bit better. I received an IR 2130 as a gift and was really looking forward to using it. I have borrowed a neighbor's old IR 231 several times for jobs my Husky just couldn't handle. So, I knew I wanted an IR impact. After trying out the 2130 on some lug nuts, it removed them with my large compressor but didn't knock them out near as quickly or easily as I was expecting. When trying to use the 2130 on my smaller compressor it wouldn't even touch the lug nuts. So, having used a 231c in the past, I thought I would pick up a 231c to compare to the 2130. The 231c was able to fairly easily take off lug nuts on my F150 (150ft-lbs) even on a small portable compressor with a 1/4" line going to it. When hooked up to my big compressor with a 3/8" line it rips them right off effortlessly. This impact is heavy, loud and hits HARD! Compared to the 2130 it's much louder, slightly less ergonomic and seems to hit harder. But, I'm a weekend wrencher and enthusiast. I think the 2130 needs more air to really shine. If I was using it daily in an automotive environment I might lean towards the 2130 for most jobs and an Aircat for those really stubborn bolts. But, for what I use it for, the 231C will do the job well and if it's half as well-built as the old USA made ones will likely last me a lifetime. Pros: Works quite well even on a limited air supply With a good air supply really hits hard (Much better than my cheap husky and in my opinion better than the 2130) Well built, feels like a tank, parts readily available There's a reason they've made this same impact for 20+ years! Cons: It's loud compared to other newer designs Trigger seems to work well but the plastic feels cheap to me Made in China (although it doesn't appear the the quality is any different than the older USA built impacts) I did a lot of reasearch and looked at a lot of reviews. Ultimately I'm happy I went with the 231c. The 2130 is a good wrench but not what I was looking for. Hopefully this review helps someone decide which impact to buy! ... show more

  • Works well and be aware of your compressor size and scfm requirements
Size: One Size
This impact wrench is really good. It took off my lug nuts with power to spare and fastened them with ease and tight enough to satisfy me. Have a craftsmen impact wrench and it lacked enough power to torque my lug nuts and other car projects so now have this one to replace it. Have a compressor that is a twin cylinder 30 gal tank rated at 5.3 scfm. and it kept up with my demands on it, ran once per tire and is no big deal with the amount of times it turned on, I figure a possible 4 to 5.3 cfm on this wrench. Unable to find a rating for this wrench as in how many cfm is needed to run this thing, so this is a complete guess. Oil came out the exhaust to a point I had to wear gloves until this issue eased up/ stopped, which it did. Over all the wrench is easy to use and has enough torque/power to get the tough jobs done. I would recommend this wrench but would be aware of the size and the scfm. of your compressor to be sure it will run this wrench. ... show more

  • Fast and powerful
Size: One Size
First off, this tool performs extremely well with a strong compressor behind it. It's really fast and pretty much handles just about any bolt/nut. Beware it will break them just as easily. Care needs to be given with old rusted bolts. I absolutely love this air gun, it is well worth the price. You will not be disappointed. ... show more
