This item works really well to heat water. The first time I used it I put the thermometer in the water with the heater. For some reason it showed like the water was not heating up and I thought the heater was broken. It looked like steam was coming off of the water though, so I realized it must be getting hot. Then I got out another thermometer and the water was very hot. You need to make sure the sensor is not sitting on the bottom of the container so it will read properly. We bought this to try and speed up the heating of our portable hot tub. At first we were impressed how fast it increased the temp. Then when we looked closer it made a brown/ rust colored residue. When we removed the heater more fell out of the device. Not sure if has to do with the chemicals in the pool, it is a salt water system. Just be aware of this. ... show more

Used this in my tiny home to heat shower water. Took less than 5 minutes to heat 5 gallons to 100 degrees. Put in water properly, plig in unit and wait. Was not hot to the touch after waiting 1 minute to remove from water. Love this and saved a ton of money versus POU or water heater tank.
