This was an excellent holdover while our home water heater was awaiting replacement (which is taking an excessive amount of time, but that's another story). It takes about 75 minutes for it to heat up a tub of bath water. But it's better than no hot water at all.

Nice weight and exactly what we needed to replace our old handles on a pre-drilled glass door. No instructions but I don't think you need them. Kit includes two handles, two plastic washers, two circular frames, two very tiny screws (easy to drop so, hang on to them), and one Allen wrench. One handle also has a bolt with a large head attached to the top and bottom of the handle. Here's what I did to install. 1. Gently pull the two handles apart. This is where that large head bolt will be exposed. 2. Remove the small opaque-white plastic, protective shipping cylinders (and discard). 3. Use a flathead screwdriver to gently unscrew the bolt in the top and bottom of one handle. 4. Place circular frame and washer onto bolt and insert bolt on both ends through the two glass door holes. Make sure the plastic washer is against the glass door and the flat side of the circular frame is touching the plastic washer. 5. Place second plastic washer on the other side of the bolt, washer must be against the glass door. Add the circular frame, with flat side resting on the plastic washer (top and bottom of handle). 6. Place one handle over the bolt and fit the ends inside the circular frame. The circular frames have a bit of an indentation that the end of the handles fit snugly into. 7. From the opposite side of the door, use the flathead screwdriver to gently screw the bolt into the handle on top and bottom. 8. Once that handle is secure, gently pop the second handle over the bolt head. Just a gentle push will snap the second handle back over the bolt head. 9. Use the Allen wrench to carefully screw in the tiny screws into the underside of the handle you just positioned. The screws and threads are tiny and could easily be dropped while attempting to insert them into equally tiny thread holes. 10. Voila. Sturdy and attractive (to me). ... show more

I take this, and a rechargeable camp shower, to Jamaica. I never needed to use the thermometer; the longer you leave it in the water, the hotter it gets.πŸ€·πŸ½β™€οΈ It takes 10 to 15 minutes to heat 5 gallons of the water enough for me to shower without being scalded. Definitely one of my best purchases.

I used to heat water in a 5 gallon bucket for cleaning and it worked really well. 20 minutes for hot water and 30 for boiling (or close to).

    • Caution!
The handles themselves seem to be well made and high quality. However, no installation instructions or warnings are included in the box. These handles require either pre-existing holes in the shower door or, that you drill holes. This not being my first rodeo, I bought a high-quality Bosch glass and tile bit and began to carefully drill the first hole in my shower door. Pausing every few seconds to make sure I was not heating the bit or glass, and being very careful to use light pressure, I stopped after to look at the very small indentation I had drilled in the glass. While not touching the door in anyway, the entire door suddenly shattered into thousands of pieces. Apparantly, some types of glass door cannot be drilled. So, before buying these handles, please be sure you either have pre-existing holes of the correct size and spacing in your shower door, or that your door is made of a material that will allow you to drill holes in it. I am giving this product a 3 star review because of the lack of any installation instructions or warnings. ... show more

    • Good-looking, high quality shower handle
High quality shower handle. I purchased this after the tightening screws on the one that came with the shower door were stripped and it finally got so loose it fell off. This one fit perfectly and is much higher quality than the original! It was fairly intuitive to install, although it didn't come with directions. It only took me a minute or two to figure it out. The handle was a little loose on the shower door, but I just added an additional plastic washer on each side from the previous handle. ... show more

Looks like my old handles, but the quality is on a whole different level. My old handle crapped out with the quickness, no amount of handy man work could fix it, I'm a licensed contractor, should have paid more for a door set to start with, but that's another issue. This set is heavy and solid, just what I wanted. It's overkill for my 1/4" doors as there's a quality mismatch, but I'm ok with it, people may confuse my door with a higher end product. ... show more
