I purchased this Immersion Water Heater in order to combat my water containers freezing over. I have 275 & 325 gallon containers which I was concerned that this 2000 watt might not be able to handle it. I was delighted to find that it was completely able to do what I needed! I spent twice the amount on a large immersion water heater from Ace Hardware which was 1500 watts and it worked but needed a lot more time (consuming more power) than this one. Being able to fully immerse the heat to the bottom of the container makes it much more efficient. Also love the included thermometer which is a great perk! Definitely recommend! Great price, good quality.

We primarily used this immersion water heater for sous vide–style cooking, and it does heat water quickly as described. It works well for smaller volumes and thinner steaks where heating time is short. However, the usage limitations and safety requirements make it less practical for longer or more precise cooking needs. Pros: • Heats water very quickly • Works as described for short-term heating • Digital thermometer is helpful for basic temperature checks • Portable and suitable for immediate or temporary heating needs Cons: • Requires an outlet rated over 15 amps • Must be fully submerged while powered on or it poses a fire risk • Cannot be touched or used while someone is in the water due to shock risk • Not designed for continuous use over 4 hours • Instructions recommend removing the heater once target temperature is reached, requiring constant monitoring This immersion heater is effective for fast, short-term water heating but is not ideal for longer tasks that require steady temperature control, such as cooking thicker cuts of meat. It’s best suited for immediate or temporary needs rather than hands-off or extended use applications.

It definitely pulls the advertised wattage because it will trip a standard 15A breaker almost immediately. 2000W means it'll draw about 16.7A, and fortuantely where I want and need to use this has a 20A circuit. Heating water takes a massive amount of energy due to thermal mass, so even at 2000W it still takes a little while to heat up even a gallon of cold water. The build isn't exactly premium, but for the price point it's totally acceptable and the kit is very complete with a scouring pad and a simple wired thermometer. Operation is plug and play literally and figuratively speaking, there's no power switch and it turns on immediately after being plugged in. Need to be disciplined about having it fully submerged before energizing it to avoid burning out the element and creating a hazard. I originally ordered this to maintain bath temperature without selfishly draining our water heater in our small house with multiple bathrooms and residents. Sometimes I want to potato super hard and doom scroll while soaking, so I pivoted to heating a separate 5-gallon bucket of fresh water on the side and dumping that into the tub instead. Overall a solid, high-power solution if you have the electrical infrastructure to run it. Value is dang good at the affordable and reasonable price.
