I order this heater because my house water heater went out I live in Illinois and need it hot water to bath while I waited for water heater to be installed. This water heater comes with a thermometer and it’s great for a kids pool or just to warm up water in case of emergency.

I purchased two of these for my above ground pool. Used in conjunction with my solar cover they work surprisingly well and have made it possible to keep the water temp above 76f currently in Nov. I definitely recommend using these alongside a cover of some kind to retain the heat. It took about 2 days to stabilize the temp with my 16ft pool. I run mine off of a 20amp circuit through a 10 gauge power cord but a single heater can easily run off of a 15amp circuit through a 14 gauge cord. Also placing them close to the two water pump ports exiting into the pool works best for me. ... show more

    • This really works well when you need hot bath water!
We had a leak in our gas line and therefore lost heat to our water. We needed something that could fill the gap and give us hot water in our bathtub. This product really did the trick. I fill the tub with water so that it's a at least and inch if not two inches above the heater rod and leave it there. When I come back a couple of hours later the water is nice and hot in such a way that I have to add cold water back into the tub to get the temperature back to a comfortable level. I used this to heat water in a couple of 5 gallon buckets of water that I filled with an outdoor hose. After removing the water heater, I used a portable shower head to give my dog a bath outdoors (so no mess in the house). He was able to have a warm bath, and everybody was happy! The immersible water heater worked quickly to heat the water, and I really liked the little water thermostat that you could dangle into the water to read the temperature. its better using in bucket because the cord will get hot being on for so long in a bath tub however using a 5 gallon bucket at a time doesnt take long at all maybe 5 minutes to heat up a 5 gallon bucket of water

    • It is in fact 1630W
I measured the power usage with my Kill-o-Watt meter and it is about 1600W. It is much less than the advertised 2000W or it a wide tolerance. The documentation and labelling is low quality. The digital thermometer is a nice bonus.
