My preferred kitchen knife is a good quality cleaver. I like them to be solid, firm, not heavy, easy to maintain and that fits my hand while I slice, dice, chop, mince or hack. I looked and held many cleavers but not felt as good as this Imarku. It arrived well-boxed and protected. It is long enough and very sturdy without being heavy or unwieldy. The edge is sharp and, thus far, seems to hold it's edge well. I have used it to chop herbs into fine bits and to separate a chicken, as well as slicing tomatoes and fruits. I gave it a pretty good work out on some frozen beef. The blade came extremely sharp and it worked well enough. I just don't think that round is a great shape for a cleaver handle. I'm also a bit more concerned about the blade working itself loose from the handle than I would be with a visible tang with visible pins. BUT, this thing is very inexpensive and very capable. Will use it for chopping anything from meat to noodle dough. ************* Update It’s gone through a few months of regular use and has yet to meet a stone. Today, I gage it a few strokes per side with a sharpening steel and the blade is still capable of slicing of strips of paper a quarter inch at a time.
