  • I'm moving BACK to this helmet, after spending over a grand on others.
Size: Medium Color: White Pro
I'm brushing the dust off this one and replacing the visor to put it back on the road. I'm a modular buff. I smoke while I ride, but prefer to ride full-faced as I have kids and a wife. Modular helmets are my only option. I've had THREE of these (returned two because of faulty Bluetooth, it still doesn't work), a couple of HJC modulars, two cheap $100 Amazon modulars (they were absolutely terrible), a scorpion exo modular (almost as bad as the $100 modulars), and currently ride with the ILM Street fighter modular (the one that flips all the way back). I tossed or returned all but this and the street fighter. I have the pro version. The shell construction is much more confidence inspiring than the flimsy super thin plastic of the $100 helmets, AND the flimsy scorpion. AND, it weighs the same! Area of vision is greater in both ILM's than any other I've tried, a little better than my old HJC's. No distortion, perfect clarity. Unobstructed field of view. This helmet has a cheeck guard clip on wind thingy that works well, and is great in the rain even though it fogs up. Rode with this from Tampa to Lynchburg VA for a funeral (through a tropical storm THE WHOLE WAY), and sunny the whole way back. 50hrs on my bike. Fog want much of an issue as long as I could crack my visor, but when it was pouring I was relying on vents. pin-locks would have been nice, but it outperformed any other helmet I've had. My biggest complaint: my neck was killing me!!!!! It took months before my shoulder stopped hurting. Now I take breaks every 2 hours. I thought it was due to the weight, but I've had 4 different helmets since then and they are all within 0.1oz of each other. I think it's the balance. The Bluetooth SUCKS. Calls DO NOT work, reception is non existent. Automatically answers EVERY call. I hated this helmet so much because of the Bluetooth that it got to the point that every annoyance started to build and fester, hell- even the color began to annoy me. And, the lack of pin-locks made my morning commute miserable on some cold mornings in Florida. Finally, I scratched the visor to the point it had to be replaced. YES!!!!!!! I ended up with the street fighter after a few of the others, couldn't afford a shark. Now that the reviews on that helmet are coming in, I'm glad I didn't buy a shark. The street fighter with a better Bluetooth solved most of my problems, but I just moved to Georgia and it does NOT do well in the cold. No chin guard wind thingy, sucks in downpours, sits too high around the neck, AND NO PIN LOCKS! So I decided to dig out this helmet and see if they had visors available, and they now have fog lenses with pin-lock holes!!!!! YES!!!! It's really not as bad of a helmet as I thought. It has it's downsides, but it's light-years ahead of other helmets in it's price range. I've ordered FIVE ILM helmets, returned 3 due to the blacktooth and Amazon reselling used stuff, and all 5 were basically the same quality. Only one QC issue between all 5 helmets. I highly recommend ILM as the ONLY option for those on a budget. I'm considering HJC's new modular that flips all the way back, but for now it looks like this is my new winter helmet. I will be removing the Bluetooth and will probably make my own and 3d print a case to fit in the original hole. Bottom line: unless you have the ability to make your own Bluetooth and print a case to fit in the old hole, DO NOT BUY THIS HELMET. BUY AN ILM, BUT NOT ANY WITH THIS VERSION OF BLACKTOOTH. Note: I tried other blackteeth, including SENA, they all sucked, pretty badly. No volume, no bass or clarity. Soo.... I tucked my tail and came back to freedconn the way I did ILM. bought one of their better versions for my street fighter helmet, and IT KICKS ASC. Great volume, CALLS WORK, great sound. Can't tell if my my helmet is windy when I turn it up lol. ... show more

  • I never provide feed back except for my fellow bikers :)
Size: X-Large Color: Matte Black
I'm sure you bought this for the same reason I did, to have some tunes while you're rolling down the highway & my review is mostly about that. Came in 2 days - WOW!!. I had a small issue with the comfort level [maybe because I'm a big guy & my head reflects that ?] but customer service replied next day & got resolved so 5 stars on that ! Bluetooth so far only has only picked up the music stored on my Galaxy phone but I want to use a bluetooth mp3 player instead of my 4 year old phone (trying to put off that $700-$1,000 next phone purchase !!!!) & the 1st bluetooth player (4.0) I bought didn't work but will keep trying until I find one that will (will update this if I do to help you out, may take a while) but in the mean time I've got music I can listen to ! Sound quality - Having trouble hearing my music above 50 MPH but I'm a old fart in his 60's & I know I've lost a little bit of my hearing due to working around extremely loud machinery back in the day before OSHA & manatory ear plugs so you'll have to take this with a grain of salt but I think I found a solution, after doing some music research I noticed my entire music collection of 1000's of songs was in the mp3 format & discovered that the FLAC format (larger KB files but also much higher quality & sound volume) is the way to go so I picked 200 must have music favs to acquire in this format , example: my average mp3 music file is 5,000 kb but the new songs I'm getting which I'm about half way in the middle of doing as I stopped to do this review are from 20,000 kb - 850,000 kb, 850,000 being the largest music file I've aquired so far & is of CD quality, why am I just finding out about this ? :) Opening my MP3 music file & my new FLAC music file & clicking back & forth on the same songs is completely night & day, my god what a HUGE difference, the quality & sound volume is crazy good !!!!! Will update you guys if this solves the problem !! Oh & the inside flip down sun visor is just frigging AWESOME !!! Peace out:) UPDATE: Luckly on my 2nd attempt I found a 4.0 bluetooth player [4.1 & higher will not be compatable with this helmet from my research, if you find one that is then feel free to correct me on this so I can order one too !] & here it is: 16GB Clip MP3 Player with Bluetooth 4.0, AGPTEK A50S Lossless Sound Music Player with Armband for Sports, Supports FM Radio Voice Recording and 128GB Expanding, Black LINK: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07F33HVY3/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Apparently I bought the last one here because at the moment it says out of stock but I saw it listed else where on Amazon so you can still get it ! The other MP3 player that wouldn't work with this helmet that I sent back was fancy dancy & only had on screen buttons like a smart phone & hard as hell to figure out & now I'm glad it didn't work, sorry I'm not taking my eyes off the road for anything but this player is old school & has a raised button key pad & I can reach over to my right wrist & use the only button I need - the fast forward button without having to look over at it !!! Volume control is on the helmet so I'm good to go !! Also I found a rubber wristband laying around the house so I put the player on that. UPDATE on sound quality for phone: After upgrading my music files to the FLAC format I went one step further & downloaded a high def music player called Neutron (by Eval, I got the free version but I think I'm going to cut loose with $6.99 & upgrade it cause its that good) which has much better sound & volume which will only be used if I use up the 30 hours on my new Bluetooth player ! Hope this was some help & saves you some time (I'm retired & got all the time in the world :) ) P.S. 2 people asked me about contacting the seller, you can only do this thru their Amazon account "Two wheels move the soul" - RIDE SMART, RIDE SAFE !! ... show more

  • It is made for a round head.
Size: Medium Color: Matte Black
This helmet is nice. Though, it is made for a round head. And the size difference between large and medium are apparent. I picked up another ILM first in Large but it is too loose. So I picked up this one and there are differences. First the size is a thing.. it seems shorter top to bottom. The chin flap catches on my face. And it isn't as deep in the face as the shade lens tickles my nose.. I do have an oval head shape so that makes a difference too. The big difference or note is the flip up is a different mechanism. It has a firm stop/ hold and makes the up and down at lights a bit finicky. Always adjusting the fit from the shift of latching or lifting. I'll update this as time goes on but thats a ride #1 impression. Oh the BT works fine. The charge port is a pain if your not paying attention. The set up is simple. And the sound quality is basic. Not like you need much more in a helmet and still hear traffic noises. Made a standing call and the other end of the line said they could hear and knowing its a hemet mic voice quality was expected.. good enough for info but not a casual comfort call to a loved one. Update. The helmet still works nice and the BT has lasted for every ride I've used it on. With that said the BT interface is overly simple. It does not start and stop media. When you get a call hanging up is didn't happen on my end and the controls would not start up anything. So if your device in a pocket its a pain. ... show more
