All dimensions of these coolers are their outermost measurements to include the width of the handles or any "extremities". I tried the 70qt as it said it was 32" inches wide thinking I'd have 2" on either side. Was more like 3.75" of space on each side and the cooler would have slopped around in the gap. Then picked the 90Qt as it said 35" wide. Fits perfect under my leaning post. I added some cooler feet meant for an RTIC brand cooler to raise it up a bit to clear a floor access port, give some grip on the floor of my boat and be able to rinse anything out from under it without removing it. Just took it to the FL Keys this past weekend. 84°F the whole weekend. Threw ~30lbs of ice in bags into the cooler which only filled in ~25%. It ended up being too windy to take the boat out so I never actually used the ice but the cooler was good enough to keep some of it frozen for 3 full days which is impressive for a cooler at this price-point. This 90qt is a solid offering from Igloo.

I am using this for food, not beverages. I put a frozen gallon of water in it for a few hours before I load it, which gets the whole cooler very cold to begin with (even the lid, which isn't touching anywhere near the water bottle). I use brick ice packs, not bags of ice. When I get into it throughout the day, a whoosh of cold air comes out of it, like when opening a freezer. The lid stays very cold throughout the day, again, even though no ice bricks or food are anywhere near it. This is a very, very well made product. The handle has a softer rubber, textured section, making it comfortable to carry., There is a slight indented curve on one side of the cooler, making it clear my legs when I am walking. Great design, great product!

Bought my first Marine 72 igloo 25 years ago with my Whaler. Banged up - oh yeah as a front boat seat, boat cooler, and travel cooler. Caulked up the cracks after 10 years and kept going. Replaced latch and parts but igloo makes repairs easy. Weight is nice to get on and off boat with some ice in it as a 1 person job - The roto molded coolers are a beast and make moving around a 2 person job. Keep some wax on the lid snaps for the snap on cushion. Purchase a coated wire basket as a great add on.

Yup, we don't use this cooler for a "cooler". If you want a great Dry Box, to keep things dry, I recommend this marine cooler. We've tried dry bags, much more expensive and smaller sealed dry boxes. We have a 2004 Pontoon boat with no actual dry storage areas. We've had the 48 quart version for 1.5 years on the boat and everything from tools, clothes, cooking utensils, spices, first aid kit, etc, etc, have stayed bone dry. I'm talking about wind and spray waves that routine batter over the sides of the boat while docked and with gusts of 30 to 50 mph plus routine in the pouring rain and even hail, sleet, and snow on the downwind side of a lake that has over 5 miles to build up the fetch in the mountains of Maine. Also, almost every night has excessive dew points and it's not uncommon to go several days with misty damp air green algae loves to grow on the boat the climate is so damp. Not once has water leaked through, and everything has stayed bone dry despite there not being a waterproofing seal. I think it actually helps because when the sun does come out, any moisture that may be in the cooler is allowed to escape as daytime heating expands the air inside. A seal would trap any moisture you may accidentally or have to put inside during a wet situation. Naturally, we never put anything in that is damp, but it's been incredible through 1.5 full seasons. Nothing has been remotely damp. We also keep three of these for our grocery runs and sort the groceries into these once we get to our vehicle. Not once have we had to empty water from the cooler versus the regular coolers. Sort your groceries yourself from the cart or while doing pick-up...
