I'm normally a "let me read the reviews before I buy" type of person, but I decided to take a risk on this one since I've been looking for a silicone-free, fragrance-free leave-in hair treatment. I have partially colored 2a hair, with some hairs that are more 2b, especially the regrowth. Each hair is relatively thin/fine, but I have a LOT of it. Most anti-frizz serums and sprays have silicones, which are not great for colored hair, and I wanted something fragrance-free because my husband is very sensitive to fragrances. So let's get to it: does this actually work? Mostly, yes. It softens my hair without weighing it down. It smoothes some of the frizzy pieces, but it's not going to completely sleek out your hair since there are no silicones. I'm comfortable with that trade-off. My fine hair happily accepts this without looking dull or sticky. The consistency of this treatment is more of a cream than a liquid, so the spray top is more of a dispenser than an actual sprayer, if that makes sense. I squirt it onto my hands and then smooth through my hair. (As a nice bonus, it also makes my hands soft.) Let's talk about the fragrance-free part. Is it? Yes. There is no added fragrance and no strong scent. It has the vaguest aroma of oatmeal (from the shea butter, I'm guessing) and a tiny bit of a fruity floral backdrop (from the apple, aka "malus domestica", I assume). I'm kind of a super-sniffer, so to most people, this would probably have no smell at all. So major points on that. I think we all know that some "fragrance-free" options still have quite a smell, sometimes not such a pleasant one. As for the scalp treatment part of this, I would say that it didn't make my roots greasy but I'm not sure how much it moisturized my scalp. I've been dealing with a relatively dry scalp lately, which is better treated by a deep moisturizing treatment. So my guess is this would work well if your scalp is just a little dry, but I give it major props for not making my roots look super dirty or oily. That's tough to find in a leave-in treatment, especially when you're talking about fine strands. So in summary, if you're looking for a more natural, fragrance-free option to smooth and moisturize your hair, this is definitely worth a shot. ... show more
