  • The New and Improved 6-Speed Professional Pet Nail Grinder from CASFUY – Review
Color: Red
I bought this new model to compare it to the previous one that I’ve already been using for a few months. I was invited to do so by the manufacturer, who asked if I’d be so kind as to write an honest review. The previous model was orange, and the new one is red. I have two dogs: one is about 65 lbs., and the other about 30. This grinder is intended for medium-to-large dogs and I found that it works well for both of mine. Before investing in a grinder, for years, I’d used manual clippers – either the scissor type or the guillotine type. Over the last 50 years I’ve owned dogs, and trimming their claws has always been a nightmare. Despite trying to acclimatize them to it from their earliest days, none of my fur babies ever got to the point of not struggling when it was claw-clipping time. Maybe it was me. I’ll never know! Anyway, that is why I decided to try grinding instead. After having used the original grinder for a couple of months, and now the newer one, I can confidently say, that for me, this is the method I’ll always use going forward. It seems less traumatic for the dogs, and as a result, I’m more diligent about keeping their claws at a healthy and comfortable level. The unboxing experience was straightforward and uneventful (so I’ll spare you a blow-by-blow video of the “event”)! Both units were packaged well, with the device itself wrapped in bubble wrap, and nestled in an injection molded plastic tray with wells containing each component. The grinder came delivered with all the essentials: a USB charging cable (you’ll need your own power brick), a dust cover for the grinding wheel, a warranty card, and a user manual. The product looks excellent and has a new shape that is ergonomically superior to the previous model. It fits better in my hand, and the irregular shape (versus being cylindrical) allows for a more secure and fixed grip that helps prevent rotation while in use. This new model still supports 6 different speeds, controlled by an easy-to-set adjustment wheel near the base of the unit. There is also the addition of an overall ON/OFF switch that I found helpful. (The previous unit turned on when you advanced the adjustment wheel off the zero position.) I like the new switch as it allows you to set the adjustment level before turning it on. For my dogs, that eliminated the minor stress of hearing the unit rev up as the speed was adjusted. The grinder comes with a nail guard that provides greater fine control and helps avoid over-grinding and inadvertently filing down to the quick. After each use, it’s easy to twist off the guard, blow out the accumulated dust from the filings, and wipe off the grinding wheel. When I first made the shift to grinding from clipping, I was careful to introduce the new tool to both dogs SLOWLY, over several sessions, as outlined in the instructions. This seemed to work fine for my larger dog, who currently seems unphased by the weekly ablutions. The little one, however, STILL, hates it – and struggles just as much as she did with the clippers! She only needs to see me pick up the grinder and her eyes bulge out of her head in terror and she runs away. (Why is it always the little ones?!) So for her, it's still a somewhat unpleasant experience, but she ultimately tolerates it. I often have to do her in multiple sessions, sometimes one for each paw! Overall, the grinder performs quite admirably. I like the cord-free nature of it. I’m still on my original charge, so that’s kind of convenient. I also appreciate the LED lights built into the head of the unit. They really help me see what I’m doing. This was admittedly a feature I didn’t fully appreciate until actually using it. Now I’d never trim their claws without having supplemental, localized lighting. The biggest difference for me is in the unit’s shape. As I mentioned I like the overall general shape of the new unit over the last one. I also like that it can be stood up on its bottom surface (so it looks a little like a rocket ship on a launch pad). I find it easier to pick up when resuming after a pause, rather than when it's lying down on its side. (The previous unit didn’t have a flat surface on its bottom.) What could be improved? I only wish the grinding wheel was a bit more abrasive. It takes quite a while for it to file down the nails, and the longer these sessions are, the more likely the pooches will get restless. A more abrasive grinding wheel might solve that, make the process more efficient, and lessen the heat generated by friction. It’s worth noting that the grinding wheel can be replaced and appears to be an industry standard size. There may be more abrasive grinding wheels out there that would work. I’ll write to the manufacturer to see what they think about that. In short, I can confidently recommend this product. It works well. It’s effective and safe. It’s a less intrusive method for claw maintenance and the price is exceedingly reasonable. I applaud Casfuy for its commitment to continuous product improvement and look forward to exploring other products they offer. ... show more

  • Finally can do my dog's nails
Color: Red
Very happy I found this product. Before this product, I'd tried another grinder and my dogs never let me even get near their feet. This grinder is very quiet and the multiple speed settings make it less scary for the pet. One of the best features is the light. I can now see what I'm doing and its bright so the nail and internal parts are easy to see. The slot on the cover makes it very easy to manage and control. Also no bulky batteries make it light weight and easy to handle. I have a dog that is anxiety prone so I introduced the grinder to him by sight. First off the sound or visual didn't bother him. So far I'm just using low settings to get him used to it. I watched a very helpful video online before using this and recommend it because it helps with how to hold the paw and use the grinder etc. I found the instruction manual and e-manual sent by the company informative but not as helpful as an online tutorial using a real dog. (Without that video of the woman using this product, I don't think I would have been able to hold the paw properly and use the product confidently or successfully.) On my first try I had my dog sitting but my dog finally got relaxed enough that he laid down and just let me grind. I'm so glad I can do this at home now. Make sure you have treats on hand and reward your pet. ... show more

  • Ease of use and the light is great
Color: Red
This is the first time that we have used a nail grinder on our dogs. This particular model is very easy to use, the safety/dust caps are very useful and the built-in light does make a difference. Our dogs like food so much that we initially introduced this device to our dogs while they were eating - we just lifted a paw here and there and slowly touched a nail here and there, while on the lowest setting. We have two Golden Retriever puppies, they are 4 months old, and we can now grind their nails while we have them on the couch. One of us is holding them, one is grinding the nails and we give them a lot of treats and love in between. We keep the sessions very short, maybe a few seconds per nail. It's enough to see dust coming off the nails (if you use it without the dust cap). I can highly recommend this grinder. It is also very quiet. ... show more

  • Great product
Color: Red
I purchased this product based on review provided by other customers who bought this item as well as finding a nail grinder that I can use for my 14 year old dog who I can no longer take to the groomers due to panic attacks. My groomer suggested to try a nail grinder and see how he does. She actually provided me one that she no longer use. I started using a different item but its slow even if I charged it. Hence, the reason why I started looking for another nail grinder until I found Casfuy. The first time I use Casfuy nail grinder, its really easy to use, it works very well, and easy handling and cleaning. I also like the settings because it gives you choices how you want the grinder settings to spin. The instruction said to start at low to allow your pup to get used to it. I set mine to 4 and works very well for my pup nails. I am happy with this product overall. The one thing I wish is that this product is made in the USA. ... show more
