🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The product under review is a home gym assembly that users find relatively easy to set up. Some reviewers mention that it is good value for money and comes with helpful add-ons. However, there have been some issues with deceptive weight descriptions and inconsistent weight increments. A few users also complained about receiving the wrong product - not a Gold's Gym XRS 50 as advertised, but a Weider XRS 50.

Pros

  • 🔧 Relatively easy to assemble.
  • 💵 Good value for the price.
  • 📈 Comes with a helpful workout chart.
  • 📦 Includes some useful add-ons.

Cons

  • ⚖️ Deceptive weight descriptions and inconsistent weight increments.
  • 🔄 Some customers reported a bait-and-switch with the product received.
  • ⚠️ Safety concerns due to the system tipping back on higher weights.
  • 📦 Some parts were bent or damaged upon arrival.

Should I Buy It?

While the product is praised for its ease of assembly and value for money, there are notable concerns to consider. Problems with weight increments and the potential for injury due to instability may make this home gym less suited for beginners. Also, a lack of customer satisfaction in some cases should push potential buyers to meticulously review the order details and purchase policies.

  • Deceptive Description
Assembly was easy. However, the weight description is deceptive. It states in the description that there is a 'Full Range' Workout. No there is not! Example, Press Arm (vertical bench press), it starts at 33 lbs. then the next step is 62 lbs. That's an increase of 29 lbs. The next step from there is an increase of 25 lbs. The Leg Lever goes from 45 lbs. to 66 lbs. and then to 113lbs. That's an increase of 47 lbs. in one step. The whole system is like this. Scattered weight increases all over the place. Nothing makes any sense, and is dangerous. The increases should be at 10lbs. to prevent injury. I wanted to send it back but was sent to their 'Return Policy' page which states that, 1). There is a 20% restocking fee. 2). I have to pay for the return shipping charge. (They send FedEx for pick up and the return amount is deducted from my refund which could range from $75.00 to who knows). 3). The package has to be in original condition with all parts and all original packaging. Which is pretty much impossible. They make it almost impossible to return due to the hassle and cost. This thing is a lawsuit waiting to happen. ... show more

  • Good for the price, takes some time to set up properly
Surprisingly easy to put together. Helps to have a socket and wrench set. Uses a variety of different bolt sizes but mostly 13mm and 17mm. Directions are detailed and easy to follow but it will take some hours to work through it all, as there are many parts to assemble. It says two people are required for assembly but I didn't have much trouble setting it up myself. After everything is tightened and lubeicated properly its a really bice piece of equipment for the money. Slightly wobbly I suppose, but not so much that I see it causing any problems. Good bang for the buck. Just make sure the bolts are tight and the cables are taught before you use it, and you shouldnt have any issues with this set up. ... show more

  • bait and switch!!
What I purchased vs what I received are two different things. What I purchased was the Gold's Gym XRS 50. What I received was a Weider XRS 50. Whether these two machines differ in exercise, range of motion, ease of weight/exercise switching, how smooth the pulleys/weights are and stability, I haven't the slightest idea. As I did not receive my expected purchase and it's too much of a hassle to dis-assemble and package for return (restocking fee???), I rate this 1 star. What I will offer is a review for the Weider XRS 50. -Even for beginners, i would advise to stay away. Yes, it comes with an approx. 100lbs weight stack. HOWEVER, the weights are of "high quality" plastic filled with sand(?). -Yes, i received all the parts necessary BUT some parts of the eye-loops for bolt installation were bent -Yes, the weights are easily adjustable BUT, depending on which pulley is activated, the weight difference between each "weight brick" is too high. It can jump from anywhere between 11lbs to 20+ lbs. PLUS, the weight deltas aren't even consistent as you move down the weight stack (more of a problem for a beginner). -Yes, this machine is compact BUT you will not be able to get a full range of motion per exercise. The ceiling for the guide rails (sliding weights) are too low. this machine will literally prevent you from a full contraction and extension/stretch. -Yes, this machine is set up so multiple exercises can be performed BUT you can seriously injure yourself or anyone else that may be around. When using the "low pulley" (bicep curls, upright rows, modified dead lift, bent over back row, etc) on slightly higher weights (still within the weight stack provided), the MACHINE WILL TIP BACK. I'm literally lifting the machine from the front -__- annnnndddddddddd It's wobbly. This machine does however come with a lat handle bar, a single grip handle, a chain link extension and a couple of carabiners. I'm an avid gym goer and have been for over 10 years. Id thought I would finally start on my home gym (no better time than a pandemic, I'd say) and decided to purchase this set. Even for people that are just starting out, I'd recommend giving any machine a test run before buying. If nothing else, a full range of motion is VITAL. Thanks for the bait and switch and almost killing me in the process. ... show more

  • Great for the price, read below for assembly tips
Dislike: The movement of the lower cable assembly is not good. The weights will smack the top of the rack if you stand and perform half a biceps curl. The resistance from the pulleys for this line is also very tough. The other 2 (mid and upper assemblies) are very smooth. I assembled it yesterday and will post an update if I figure out a way to smooth out the resistance by loosening some tension. Note: buy grease before you start. Wal-mart sells a quick dry item called “white lightning” for bike chains and that stuff is perfect so far. Note 2: Step 2, the rectangle block is in a bag of misc hardware, not the #1 accessories page. Note 3: step 8, big holes face front. Note 4: step 12, vertical “pins” face forward. Note 5: step 13, put the pads on before attaching U-handles. I totally missed that. Note 6: step 25, don't over tighten nut. Note 7: step 28-30, yes, the wheels go side by side Note 8: “right” and “left” .... If you are facing the weight stack these labels will be opposite. So if its marked “left” that will go on your right. Note 9: there are 3 types of pulley wheel. The 2 skinny spoke-like wheels go on the top bar. The 2 wide ones are for the chest press bars and mount directly behind that. (Btw, each end of that short cable will attach the chest press with a pulley dangling at the bottom of the loop. That pulley attaches to a pulley from the lower cable and they are joined by a bracket resembling an “H”) knowing that in advance would’ve helped me with assembly All in all I’m pleased with this and also how little room it takes up. Again, if I figure out how to smooth out the resistance of the lower assembly I’ll post an update. ... show more
