This is the second one I've purchased in the last two years. (Not because the first one broke, but just in case I misplace the first one.) I would have given it more stars, except that this one had a rough edge on both the handle and the hook portion, which had to be sanded down. The handle had a lot of flashing on the handle joining seam. It was sharp and almost cutting. I trimmed it off after attempting to use it. The end that grabs the laces is only the bent end of a round rod. I used a grinder to make it more wedge shape on that end to get under the laces easier. So after the fixes it works well. I use this for rollerblades. It's great for adding that extra bit of tightness. I like the wide handle. It allows for a better grip than other tighteners I've used. It is a thick metal bar which means it's strong but it is sometimes tough to get it under the laces. I find it better to start at the side where there might be a little more space and then move it to the middle. ... show more
