Update: 11/23/2022: Okay so I am updating my review from earlier after having received a replacement for the first bass. I have been using the bass everyday for the last few weeks for rehearsals and gigs and I have nothing but great things to say about. If you're new to multi-scale instruments the transition is pretty simple and it feels a little more intuitive to my fingers, but there isn't a major difference. The neck is super long, so I wouldn't recommend this bass to folks who have short arms, even for me it's a bit of a stretch sometimes and I have long arms. I'm typically a 4 string player, I save my 5 string basses for different occasions such as reggae or metal gigs. But I have fallen in love with the B (5th) string on this bass, normally that string just sounds so flubby and waffles out. But on this bass the 5th string is nice and tight, I use it more now because the volume is even with the rest of the strings. A very subtle flex is the adjustable pickup heights, it opens up new options being able to adjust them individually. This bass has replaced my everyday 4 string basses because it is very playable and fits into any mix thanks to the flexibility of the tone controls. Old Review: I purchased this bass through an American musical supplier (vendor) as soon as I laid eyes on it in July 2022 but it was on backorder until October 2022. I patiently waited and when I finally received it plugged it in and played, I knew it was worth the wait. The action was nice and low, the fit and finish was immaculate and I am in love with the tone of it. However, less than a week later at a gig during sound check my tech and the sound guy noticed that a very audible hiss coming from me... at first I thought it was my pedal board, amp or cables, we ran down the list of culprits until finally we realized that it was coming from the brand new bass itself! We decided that it would be so loud at the venue that no one would noticed during the songs and I was muted in between songs. I chalked the incident up to maybe a bad battery, so I replaced it. A few days later while recording I noticed that when I flipped the switch on the active EQ that I'd completely lose sound when it was turned on but I would get sound back turning it off... At first I didn't mind but then I started to notice that same hissing sound. I called my tech and explained the issue and he offered to check it out. But then I realized that this was a BRAND new bass that I waited for for four months! So I contacted the vendor and explained the issue and without missing a beat the customer service fellow said that he had another one in stock and it would be on it's way once they received my return. Though I'm disappointed with the instrument I am very eager to get my hands on one that is not defective, it really is a sweet playing and sounding bass. ... show more
