  • Can't go wrong, especially at this price.
Style: Guitar
I own quite a few guitars. Some are budget friendly but quite good guitars. This Ibanez GRX70qa is a very nicely built instrument and although out of tune when it arrived I was surprised at how absolutely perfect the intonation was. No adjustment needed except for tuning and lowering the action which is now quite low with no fret buzz. Amazing! It has a wide range of tones given the pickup configuration, HSH, which splits the humbuckers in a variety of configurations. The finish is is quite beautiful and to my surprise my fingers did not get black from crappy oxidized strings. I'm very glad I made this impulse buy and will certainly consider Ibanez as a brand to rely on in the future. A great guitar for beginners and experienced players alike. ... show more

  • Wow!
Style: Guitar
I wanted the Blue one just for a guitar to have on a stand to grab really quick, but it was out of stock, so I bought the Purple. It was amazing from the time I unwrapped it. It came set up perfect, action and intonation, even close to tuned, but once it was tuned it stayed tuned. The finish is absolutely beautiful, hard to tell it isn't a solid piece of wood. Ibanez quality all the way. It has a basic "Strat" style tailpiece tremolo, usually you look at them and they're out of tune, but not this one, it stays in tune much to my surprise. The pickups are worth the price of the guitar. Neck, controls, fret edges all excellent. I was so impressed that I not only ordered a hard case (Chroma Cast on Amazon, about $80), I ordered the blue guitar when it came back into stock and a case for it also and I'm just as pleased. I have many Fenders, Gibson's Epiphone's and other guitars and I'm proud to have these in my collection. Great price point for a beginner, quality of an Ibanez. Buy one for an extra guitar but buy a case it's liable to become one of your favorites. ... show more

  • Don't let the cheap price fool you!
Style: Guitar
In the category of who knew: Actually, I am sure a lot of you knew this, but it was totally new to me. I grew up in the era of acoustic guitars and simple chords. All well and good. But having never experimented much at all with electric guitars I never once considered owning one. Until now that is. The problem was this: I can only play so fast on my acoustic, and African lead patterns required a lot more speed than I could produce while tripping rapidly over strings and fingers up and down the neck. I tried hard to run that acoustic lead maze but after a while I wasn't able to get any faster, or any better sounding. So, I hopped into my virtual time machine just to see what one might expect from an electric guitar. Are they all about distortion and metal sounds, or could they be a useful tool for other styles as well - namely African music? Turns out that almost all African guitar players play electric guitars. It also turns out that the action on an electric can be so good as to allow the player to merely touch the string and it will sound a true note. No more bearing down hard on strings. Net result: I could not afford the guitar that seemed most promising. I had to settle for a $200.00 guitar. But what a guitar it is! I pictured days of setting up for such an inexpensive guitar just in order to make it playable and then I thought I still probably wouldn't like it very much. I couldn't have been more wrong! The setup right out of the box was close enough to perfect that I just left the setup as it was. I am already about a third faster on those African Guitar licks and the sound can be as clean and pristine as I might wish. I can also add a little delay or what not to make it really sing! I don't have a true amp yet, just software amp emulations. That's okay because I like the sound of it fine as it comes unfiltered through my modest bedroom stereo. My new guitar is scooped out in places on its solid body which allows for a very nice ergonomic fit while holding it close to my less than solid body. The guitar balances effortlessly with no noticeable head drop. Anyway, I am not one to go on an on about material things - much. But here is something affordable that is also very, very good! If you don't want to take my word for it then check out the reviews on the internet. Cheers! ... show more

  • Overall, a good guitar for the money.
Style: Guitar
As I said, a good value for the money.. The fretwork is flawless, The neck is straight, the tuners are not the best, but they work well enough. Stays in tune well, even with the cheap strings that came with it. Intonation was spot on.. Pickups could be hotter, but it pulls off metal tones quite well... I did have to set the action, so beginners beware, it is not set up ootb... I own a high end Ibanez, and this one has a similar build quality... Overall, I was surprised at what an "inexpensive" guitar has become.... #Update I no longer have this guitar... My teenage son fell in love with it and won't give it back!!! It's his 'Baby' now!!! ... show more

  • Great Value
Style: Guitar
This guitar is excellent! It plays great with low action and a smooth neck. The pickups are really nice, and lots of tones are possible. I was surprised by the nice clean tones! Looks really nice with blue marbled paint. Very pleased!

  • Easily worth $199
Style: Guitar
I consulted my brother, who has been playing electric guitars for 40+ years, before I bought this guitar for my daughter. He described it as a “Corolla” of guitars, by which he meant it wouldn't be the absolute best guitar you could buy but it would be affordable, extremely well made, and last for a very long time. Even with that idea in my mind, I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the build when my daughter opened it on Christmas day. It seems my brother was right on every point. Easily worth $199 and five stars in this review. ... show more

  • One of the best guitars under $500
Style: Guitar
I bought this guitar for my son who would play around on my electric guitar while I played acoustic. The playability of this Ibanez is amazing. I find myself grabbing it when he is gone and shredding through the night. I have been playing for 21 years and have tried out dozens of guitars to find what I like, and this is one of the best investments in a young musicians career. Would highly recommend this guitar to anybody from New players to expert players looking for a jam guitar. ... show more
