  • Quality Mechanical Keyboard | Budget Friendly | Desirable Features
Edit: 07/27/2023 This keyboard has been going strong since my purchase more than 2 years ago. I have upgraded my PC, moved, changed jobs, and been through 4 semesters of college since then and this keyboard is still solid as a rock. I would buy anything from i-rocks at this point. Edit: 07/21/2021 i-rocks contacted me after my updated review and provided me with a replacement almost instantly after I submitted my edited review, so first of all kudos to them for the great customer service. The replacement keyboard I received has been functioning flawlessly since I received it and I am changing my rating to 5 stars to reflect that the first keyboard I received was an outlier. edit: 03/02/2021 The keyboard has unfortunately not lived up to my expectations. Approximately 3 weeks ago I noticed that I kept having to hit the 'e' key several times before it would recognize the input. The problem then extended to the 's' key, then the 'd' key, which is a real detriment to most video games I play and ended up being so frustrating that I am returning the keyboard. It is unfortunate because I really did have high hopes for this budget friendly mid range keyboard with lots of features. Maybe I just got a bad keyboard. original review follows. ~~~ I spent several weeks searching for a keyboard that had similar features to my current keyboard (Corsair K70 LUX RGB) but wouldn't be $200+ or require several hours of setup and/or building an entirely custom solution. My requirements were: * Full size (104/108 key) * Per-key RGB * media volume wheel * standard layout * A typeface font that wasn't horrendous * Tactile mechanical switches And this meets all of those requirements! It may not seem like a lot, but believe me, it was pretty hard to find something that met all of those requirements and didn't cost upwards of $160. Pros: + The Outemo browns sound nicer to my ears than the Cherry browns I had before + Tactility is much better than the Cherry browns I used before. I've heard people call Cherry browns "sandy reds" (e.g. not truly tactile, merely being gritty linear switches) and after using these I would say that I agree, thought I am no expert. These have a really nice bump and the sound is about an octave lower in pitch than the cherries. + Per-key RGB is very vibrant, with only a couple keys displaying some weird legend inconsistencies (capslk and numlk specifically) + edge lighting also looks quite nice (usually). + detachable usb-c cable powers and connects this device. - top edge lighting could be brighter, and all around the edge lighting could use more LEDs to provide a more consistent light-bar - software is mediocre, and when I downloaded it, it was in Chinese, so it was difficult to tell how to get it to English. (click the cog wheel in the top right, then in the second menu option click on the arrow to drop down the menu and click english to change the GUI language) - the space bar is... not great. It seems to squeak, and I think it is the stabilizer(s) that are causing the squeak. - there are no separate media controls besides the wheel, just media controls accessed with the function key combinations. Other thoughts/closing: This is a great budget keyboard. My only other consideration for keyboard with similar features was the Roccat Vulcan 121 Aimo which is about twice the price. I can't speak for quality yet as it has only seen a few days of use but the keyboard feels very heavy which is a good sign. I also don't believe that I could swap out the switches easily but that was my only other desire and is hard to find at a reasonable price, so the point is moot. A lot of Chinese brands use this horrible ugly typeface on their keys which I don't understand so I was pleasantly surprised to find one with a pretty standard typeface. ... show more

  • My First Mechanical Keyboard 10/10!
Size: Gateron Switches (Brown) Color: Pink
This is my first mechanical keyboard. It is beautiful! Everything is 10/10, I just wish the border around the keyboard was dimmable but it isn't.

  • Faulty key over time.
Size: Gateron Switches (Brown) Color: Black
This keyboard is absolutely gorgeous, I love it. The brown-key sound and feel is phenomenal and I highly recommend. My only issue is that my 'h' key seems to be faulty, it's only been about a month or two and at times I have to press it several times to get it to work. I have seen another review with a similar issue, so keep this in mind when purchasing. Overall very good quality. ... show more

  • One of the best budget mechanical keyboards I’ve tried.
A pretty good keyboard, especially for the price! Pros: Lots of features you normally see on more expensive boards like PBT keys, media dial, two angle options, and a detachable usb-c cable. Doesn’t require any drivers unless you want to adjust the lighting on a per-key basis. All other features are plug-and-play. Extremely adjustable RGB lights, with brightness, color, pattern, and speed controls call available using key combinations or be included software. There are also a lot more lights than you would expect, especially around the thin plastic border that wraps around the keyboard. This makes the color patterns and animations look a lot more smooth than on most inexpensive keyboards. You can also turn off the LEDs if you want a more subtle/professional look (The side lights and key lights can be controlled separately, so you can turn off just one or the other if you want.) but I like keyboards that look like an electric disco ball so I always leave them on. The media wheel can also be used as a scroll wheel or to switch between different open windows. You can select between different modes using the keys next to the wheel or by pushing down on the wheel like a button. This only works in Windows but it’s really cool. Extremely solid build quality. It’s entirely plastic, but there’s no flex and it doesn’t feel cheap or fragile. Only time will tell how durable it is, but after a few weeks of use I’m still very happy with it. Cons: The included USB C cable is rubbery and not as nice as the rest of the package. But you can replace it so this isn’t a big deal imo. It does have foam to dampen the sound but it’s still a little noisy and a few keys have a ping-y sound. Some keys are louder than others, but it isn’t dramatic. It still sounds better than other plastic mechanical keyboards in the sub-$100 range. Their website isn’t very intuitive so the drivers and digital manual can be kinda hard to track down. But again, you don’t need them for most features. The keyboard comes with a physical manual too. Those downsides are typical of most mechanical keyboards in this price range, but most mechanical keyboard in this price range also have far fewer features and/or worse build quality. You can find a few keyboards in this price range that have slightly nicer build quality (heavy metal cases, quieter keys) but none of them have detachable cables, PBT keycaps, and media keys, and their lighting options aren’t as customizable. If those features matter to you, this is the best keyboard in its price range. I think it was absolutely worth the money and I’d definitely suggest it to friends who want a mechanical keyboard with media controls under $100. ... show more
