  • Great G502 Replacement with a Prerequisite
Style: Mouse
Overall, the Pulsefire Raid is a good replacement for the G502. I have been using the G502 for 6 or 7 years mainly due to the number buttons. I need more buttons than a traditional mouse. I never really liked the ergonomics of the G502 though. I always felt it was too narrow, especially at the top. The Raid feels pretty good. I will need to get used to it a little, but I had no problems using it from the start. I prefer the button placement and all but one are easy to hit without resorting to finger yoga. I noticed the sligtly lower weight, which I prefer, but it is not night and day. I took one star off, but considered taking two stars off for the software. It is not using it that is a problem for me. It is getting it. The software worked fine for what I needed such as rebinding buttons to keystrokes. One of the easier processes I have seen. Better than Logitech in my opinion. However, with any other brand, you go to the website and download it and install it. Easy as pie. With HyperX, you do the same process, but you ultimately get it from the Microsoft store. Before you buy this mouse and I suspect all the Pulsefires, make SURE you can access the Microsoft store. Of course I had a problem so it took me hours to fix it. Ultimately, for me, I needed to set Googles DNS servers as my default. I am not sure why Kingston went that route, but they would have saved me a lot of time if they would have the software available for download from their site. Overall, it is a good mouse for the money. Edit : March 13, 2020 Downgrade from 4 to a 2 Firing up World of Tanks(WoT) showed a pretty big weakness in the mouse and its software compared to the G502 at least for me. World of tanks' aim down site is not the right mouse button that you would expect. It is a keyboard key and the RMB is the free look. I always had to remap my mouse to make a the RMB the aim down site by assigning it to a key for that game via a profile and assigning the free look. Never had a problem with the G502. However, the Ngenuity software when you choose to remap the RMB for a "Game Link"profile with WoT, it only allows you to remap it to the left mouse button :-( . You cannot assign it to a keyboard key. That is very unfortunate. I totally downgraded my rating for that because in 2020, that is not acceptable considering that well over 10 years ago I could remap the RMB of the G502. For that, 2 stars is fair because aim down site to me will always be the RMB and mice that allow me to accomplish that are all the better. I now have to retrain myself to use another mouse button. Get on it Kingston, that is not really good. However and in all fairness, the mouse performs very well and is very smooth in all the games I have played. It does feel good and if one off situations do not matter to you like it does to me, this mouse is still about a 4.5 in my opinion for performance and a 4 if you consider the hoops to get the software noted above (ie; just let a customer download it from you). ... show more

  • Software ruins entire experience
Style: Mouse
Pros: What Hyper X promised and advertised Cons: Everything they advertised does not work as advertised. The Ngenunity program that's required to customize the mouse is a bonfire. You cannot close the program and expect the mouse to retain your settings. You cannot macro single keystrokes, you cannot keybind single keys. Of the 5 thumb buttons, only 2 are actual mouse buttons. The other 3 come stock with audio controls. As previously stated, you cannot keybind those buttons. Same exact issue with the wheel tilt left and right. You can only remap the stock mouse buttons to these. The RBG is completely broken, you can set a color and the mouse will just cycle colors infinitely. Tl/dr: Do not waste your time The mouse is heavier than expected, not a bad thing, just observation. ... show more

  • Pulsefire Raid (Do not buy if your planning on using Macros)
Style: Mouse
I bought this mouse as it had the 5 side buttons and seemed to be a medium sized mouse based on the specs. When the mouse arrived and I unboxed it I noticed that it just felt cheap. I plugged it in and went to the HyperX website to download the software and the mouse wasn't even listed as a supported device. I downloaded the software anyways and it took two times for it to install properly. The buttons feel cheap, and stiff. The sensor in the mouse appears to have a problem with random tracking issues. The software is HORRIBLE. It appears to have been written in 1990 and has very little features compared to other software The software does NOT allow you to make a macro that repeats while the key is pressed. This is something that is offered by Logitech, Steelseries, Razer, Corsair, and even Red Dragon. When I contacted HyperX customer service to see if this was going to be an option when the software was no longer in Beta he replied "No, no one has requested that feature" I also had to reset the simple key macros on multiple occasions as it appears they were reset upon powering down the computer. They have been working on this mouse for two years (go to Reddit and Twitter) and this is the best they can do? DO NOT BUY THIS MOUSE!! Thank goodness for the return policy at Amazon..... ... show more

  • Suited to hands with long fingers
Style: Mouse
I have average sized hands and average sized fingers for a guy. The front forward button was too hard to reach, yet at the same time the mouse is too small. However this mouse has excellent tracking, and if you want a lightweight mmo/fps crossover its excellent. If you have problems with the software be sure to download from the Windows Store and not from their website. Also make sure if it crashes you disable any in-app overlays you have set. I had crashes, and disabled my RTSS overlay and it started working. ... show more

  • Really wanted to like this
Style: Mouse
I've been playing World of Warcraft Classic and and I hate macros, do I use them here and there, yes, but do I like using them, no. So I wanted a mouse where I could program lots of buttons using the Clique addon. This mouse seemed perfect for what I wanted to do, and when it arrived it was easy to set up. Not long after I discovered why everyone was complaining about it.......the buttons unbind their key settings on a weekly basis. How frustrating to have to program your mouse and addons EVERY week. If the software worked this would be perfect, but it doesn't and so I'm going to buy something else. I did try using it with the standard software without updating it like some suggested, but that did not solve my problem. ... show more
