We have had this life jacket for about a month and all the filling on the back of the jacket has balled up at the bottom. It’s past the return window by a couple days. I had to replace it with a obrian brand quality jacket. A waist of money.

I got this in the fall in a northern latitude, so it is not really the season for swimming, but I have been looking for a reliable life vest for a while, so when I saw this I had to have it! However, when I got this it was at least one, likely two sizes too small for me - so I had to give this to a friend who actually fit in it who could use it. Fortunately, we had a room at a hotel for a sporting event last weekend, and we were able to give it a very small test in a 6 ft deep hotel pool. Packaging/Presentation: The life vest comes packaged in a pretty standard clear bag. Look: I like the look of this life vest. I got the red hue, because I figured it is the most visible if someone is stranded in water, though I supposed it probably wouldn't make much of a difference. It certainly has the looks of a nice quality vest. Size/Feel: This thing was at least one, very likely two sizes too small for me. I couldn't get it even close to working. I would say unless you're a very slim man, you should consider ordering one, possibly two sizes up from what the size chart recommends. I'm docking a star for the sizing because honestly, you can't completely rely on the sizing chart listed on the product page unless you're quite slim. Use: After running some quick research, this life vest is rated 70 buoyancy, on a four level scale of 50, 70, 100, and 150. It is classified as "Level 70 Buoyancy Aid: Equivalent to the old system’s Type III PFDs. They are the most common PFDs worn by recreational boaters. No self-turning ability" and is coast guard approved, which is nice. This was done under very calm conditions in a hotel swimming pool, but it worked very well and performed as expected. My friend said that the vest felt a little tight (shocker, I know) but I suppose it is designed to be somewhat tight for effectiveness. It performed very well though, and exactly as we had hoped. Next summer, he says he will test it out when he goes kayaking in real water, but his controlled, calm hotel pool experience made him feel good about keeping the vest and using it "in the field." Conclusion: Beware that this runs quite small, if you're a slim guy this likely won't be too much of an issue for you but if you're bigger either width/shoulder wise or length/belly wise you may want to consider going up to two sizes above your average size. That being said, it is a nice looking vest, and in the very limited test we did it performed as expected. So as long as you get the correct sized vest, I would recommend it.

I recently acquired the Hyperlite Men's Indy Vest, and it has proven to be an excellent choice. As a resident in Lake Havasu, where kayaking and jet skiing are regular activities, I was searching for a life vest that combined comfort, quality, and style. The Hyperlite Men's Indy Vest met my expectations. First, the comfort level of this life vest is nice. The large armholes provide a generous range of motion. The vest fits nice and snug without rubbing. Even during extended periods of wear, I didn't experience any chafing. It's worth noting that the sizing can be a bit tricky. I ordered a size based on the chart, but I echo what other reviewers have mentioned – consider ordering a size up for a more comfortable fit. In my case, I'm a 40-inch chest, and the XL size turned out to be a perfect fit. I'm glad I went with the larger size for a snug yet comfortable feel. In conclusion, the Hyperlite Men's Indy Vest has become my go-to life jacket for water activities. It combines style, comfort, and quality, making it a reliable choice for both beginners and experienced water enthusiasts. So to be totally honest, this is based on me trying it on when I received it, and it has sat unused ever since. It is pretty comfortable, and it fits in the nose of my canoe nicely. I do most of my canoeing on flat lakes and shallow rivers that require PFD be on hand, so this fit the bill.
