Upfront... super happy about the brightness of the lights and how very simple they are to mount IF you are willing to modify. To explain, the way the fixture is setup, there are two strips of LEDs, white and yellow on each strip, that are mounted onto a thin, white cardboard cover that hides the wiring and acts as a reflector. That cover limits access to possible mounting holes. The screw holes for a round ceiling box are also not easily accessible. So, I ended up drilling through the small gap between the two LED strips to create my own mounting holes. BE CAREFUL because you do not want to have that screw to touch an LED module or the delicate LED strip. The cover comes off the unit relatively easy, however, going back on is a bit more of a challenge, though once on, it is VERY secure. Finally, there is a 1-2 second delay from power on to light on and that is probably the just the ballast being less expensive making the unit overall more affordable. While this might sound like a lot of negatives, I truly couldn't be happier about the packaging to prevent damage, the amount of light these produce, the actually noticeable difference in color and strength of those optional switches. I chose these to replace fluorescent light and it is such a positive change. Truly thrilled with the end result even with the mounting considerations. ... show more

I bought three and began installing them as soon as they were delivered. They disassembled and reassembled easily. Not sure what others were complaining about? Mounting holes were already there and aligned with my mounting application just fine. No problems at all. I installed them under a carport and I'm using the daylight setting on 75w. They're bright! I just hope they last longer than a few months like some LEDs. ... show more

    • Basically a good product but a small design change would make it better.
As others have described removing and replacing the difuser is much more difficult than it should be. It is just too tight. Have had many tube lights over the years and all have had the difuser cut in size so it is maybe a 1/16 of an inch longer than necesary at the ends. This makes it easy to insert in one end and slide to the other end in place and then snap it in lengthwise. This is a much tighter fit than necessary to secrure the difusser. This would be a great light, easy to install with a simple change in manufacturing. ... show more

When I went to Home Depot the led lights did not have a pop out hole in the side for mounting where these did. Being able to change color is useful as well

should have upgraded to this LED light a long time ago. suffered through the neon gas predecessor of this light from the home builder, but the bulbs never lasted. this retrofit literally took me 10 mins to swap out...super easy - and much brighter than the gas lighting.

These three four feet LED fixtures replaced similar length (two bulb) fluorescent fixtures I installed about twenty years ago. They are lighter, largely because they have no ballast, and are easy to install. I put them on the bottom of floor joists in my basement. They are very bright, and while there are three wattage and coolness settings, I have just left them on maximum but some time I may adjust them for a warmer light effect. I notice that these are suitable for garages too so in the future I'll be getting two more of these to replace the fluorescent fixtures I put up in my two stall garage years ago. This all started when I put new bulbs in the three basement fluorescent fixtures only to have first one, then a second ballast go bad. Ever try to buy a ballast in today's 'energy efficient' world? I just decided to go LED and these lights looked like about as good a deal as I was going to find. I have not been disappointed. I was glad that I watched the installation video because it reminded me of the method of taking off and reinstalling the diffuser which is a bit tricky but not too big a deal. This is a very common attachment method on lower priced light fixtures and getting the plastic end cap to open just enough to get the end of the diffuser to slip in place can try a person's patience, practice makes perfect. Update- I bought four more of these. Two of them replaced two four bulb fluorescent fixtures (four feet long bulbs) in my basements and these LED units put out more light than even these four bulb units did. Two of these Hykolity fixtures replaced two 2 bulb, four feet, fluorescent fixtures in my garage. The garage is now bathed in daylight, even at night. ... show more
