This light is very attractive, it's very thin, very minimalist. It has a nice bright white finish, and the bezel is exactly the same color as the lens giving it a very nice monochrome look. The metal back plate makes it feel much higher quality than many competing products. The chain is a nice touch and makes installing the light solo much easier. I found initial installation to be very easy, didn't need to shim and had no trouble pushing wires through the hole as other reviewers. I don't think shimming would ever be necessary, as you could just not tighten the mounting plate all the way snug. Screw holes aligned perfectly with the holes on the standard round 4" junction box. Got lucky and managed to get the light centered right on the mount. Easy, and done - if it weren't for being a perfectionist. Due to part of the backplate being flush with the mount, it didn't sit completely flush with the ceiling. In fact, it's almost impossible to get it completely flush since the texture bumps will be touching the raised part of the backplate around the mount area. I ended up with no gap on one side, and a big gap on the other, so I had to take it down and loosen/tighten the mounting screws to try to get the gap completely even. I probably took it down and re-adjusted it 5 times before I was happy with the gap evenness (3-4mm all the way around), and many of those times I didn't get lucky as the first time: on subsequent attempts, it was actually quite difficult to center the light on the mount in order to twist-lock it into place. Once complete, the light is beautiful and was actually shockingly bright compared to the "boob light" that it replaced. Too bright, at first, but I've since gotten used to it so I don't think I'll bother adding a dimmer. It has a lot more side coverage than I expected. I have it set to 3000K, and it's a little cooler than incandescent, but I like that. It does have a split second delay to turn on which doesn't bother me, but may bother some. ... show more

    • Bright and dimmable, but buzzes a bit

Had no problems installing on junction box. This light works well and is dimmable with a Lutron LED+ MSCL-OP153 dimmer switch, it doesn't flash a couple times before finally turning on like my previous light. However this light buzzes with that dimmer - when there's no background noise, it's low volume but audible, and it's the same volume no matter what the brightness setting is on the dimmer. The problem may not be this light but the dimmer. I have LED bulbs which work perfectly with the dimmer, but I haven't yet found a dimmable light of this style which works well (no flashing, no buzzing). ... show more

We have used and installed many of these types of lights in our projects. This one seemed high quality. We liked that it had a metal install plate (most are plastic). The adjustment for the color of the light is conveniently located on the side (most you have to remove to change). They even had a mounting tether built into the light and mounting plate that held the light up while you wired. Looks great in the laundry room we installed it in. I was a bit worried when I bought this that the light would be very dim since it was so cheap. I had nothing to worry about. This light can be set to the intensity of the sun. Completely lights up my entire bedroom almost to the point where it's TOO bright. Light is made of plastic and feels cheap, but looks very sleek and modern when installed. Instillation was a bit difficult since I live in an older home, but once we got the brackets attached right, the light just snapped into place.
