Took me about a minute from taking off the toilet tank lid to removing the old flusher and installing this one. My old one was made of plastic and the lever broke off the handle. I bought this handle to replace a broken/sprung factory handle on an American Standard toilet (model Cadet). The item description/title indicated that it was American Standard compatible. My A.S. model has been around for over 10 years so it was not like I had some odd or one-off model. The issue amounted to the size of the replacement handle. It is simply too small and subsequently does not cover the "rough in" area where the handle inserts into the tank. When installed, the edges of the receiving hole (square) are clearly visible (Picture 1). Picture 2 shows the factory handle. Note that the factory handle skirt is much wider. Picture 3 shows the handles side-by-side. The replacement handle does work, but the fitment is very poor. I hate returning stuff, but in this case, I felt that the description was misleading. The plastic nut has reverse threads which kind of threw me at first. I assume that they did this to keep it from loosening itself when used. Aside from that it seems well-made and durable.

This replaced the previous one we had that had deteriorated due to our very hard water. This one fits but really needs a plate arouind the handle base to help cover the hole through the toilet tank to make it look better.
