Update: 6 months in and I now have 3. My tiny Tim tomatoes never stop. Sugar Ann dwarf peas are delicious- steady supply of lettuce, mint, Swiss chard... I'm less than a month in and watching for a sale to get another. I did add air stones to each layer and bought different nutrients- but the lights are perfect and everything is growing well. I was away for 10 days and came back to a jungle of Swiss Chard. Cucumbers and tomato plants quadrupled in size. I had raised the lights 4 inches before I left and they shot right past them. This is my first time using hydroponics and I'm so happy with this.

I spent a long time researching all the hydroponic choices that I could find for my kitchen. This unit was perfect capacity and size for my kitchen. Unfortunately, almost everything on Amazon lasts between 3 weeks to three months and money is constantly wasted. However, this product that I've had for a little over two months now, is different. It is sturdy, cleverly but simply made and it is going to last for a very long time. Assembly was easy. Since I'm a newbie in hydroponics, I have contacted the seller several times and each time they get back to me immediately and with comprehensive guidance. They even sent me additional supplies just as a gift which I didn't ask for. I'm very happy with the product and the seller and very happy with my beautiful fresh produce.

An honest review. I have had this system for several months now and this is what I’ve learned. Watch the video SEVERAL times on how to build this system before and while you build this system. I got the reservoirs in the wrong order and had a ridiculously hard time taking apart the pvc pipes to correct my mistake. Where the water hose connects to the side of a reservoir, cover it with foil to block all the light that passes through the transparent fitting or you’ll have algae growing in them. Also, cover the tops of your plant pods with foil to block light. I’ve thought about lining the bottoms of the top and middle reservoir with foil & double sided tape as the light slightly passes through from underneath to the above water reservoir. The lights work well and are bright enough for my dwarf tom thumb peas to flower and produce pea pods, I ended up adding an air pump with 2 stones (1 for the top reservoir & 1 for the middle reservoir) to combat algae & root rot. Since adding the air stones, everything is growing well. I use the water pump at 15 minutes on and 30 mins off. When you first fill the system with water, adjust the pH first and then add some of the water to the bottom and the rest to the top to let it flow down to the middle while watching the water gauge rise to the max line. This is a 23L system which is a litter 6 gallons. Tall plants go in the top reservoir. Grow only plants that require the same nutrients & pH levels or you’ll have trouble growing your plants. The instructions say to use the water pump at level 7 but that will cause water to overflow. That happened twice to me. So I have the system in a large tote. I have my water pump on just past the halfway mark (there are no numbers on the dial- see picture). The lights are set at 16 hours on, 8 hours off. This is an affordable system and it’s worth getting. I had to get a manual siphon to drain the water to replace it on a monthly basis so I don’t disturb the plants. . I grow Bibb & Ruby Red lettuces, thyme, parsley and dwarf Tom Thumb peas in my 3-tier system. Very happy with it. The water pump is quite small but it’s still working well. It pumps the water from the bottom reservoir to the top and the overflow goes to the middle and then back to the bottom reservoir.

2nd UPDATE: Had to wait another 10 days for the longer tubing and the missing connection to the pump. I put it together and it finally works! Sort of! Because the water in the bottom part is very high, as if the plants might drown, while the water in the top is the right level but the gravity drain creates a huge sucking sound so be prepared! 1st UPDATE: Seller is promising to remedy the problems of waterlines being too short to reach the pump and the fixture missing from connecting the pump to the water lines. They contacted me immediately after my bad review and have contacted Amazon to issue a refund. If they follow through with what they say, I will edit this again. Please note this is still a very small item, which can’t be fixed. PREVIOUS: OMG i expected sooo much more. For one, it’s about half the size that it looks like - they must have used miniature plants in the photos. I put my glasses on one photo so you can see the size. I was still going to use, since it’s always a pain to ship things back - but I can’t even fit the water line into the pump. The pump they show on the product assembly has a stalk to fit a hose over, the one they sent me does not, and they were even skimpy on their rubber water lines, they are cut too short to reach the pump, and the the drain pipe barely reaches into the water basin. One little bump and it surely come out and ruin your floor. Overall, probably $15 in plastic parts, and probably the same in lights. I’m so sad….:(

I have purchased 2 of these and am very satisfied with the product! Assembly instructions were clear and parts labeled. Within a week I had nearly every seed sprouted and by the 3rd week we could pick lettuce to eat. Highly recommend to beginner hydroponic gardeners like me.

This works well, BUT... The water pump died after less than two weeks. I am still within the return delay. I do not see how; I have numerous plants growing, and it would mean letting them die. I have an air pump on order. I will use the same principle used on another system... Air circulation, water pulsed in. I have a recommendation: do not purchase this because the main component, the water pump, is inadequate and will leave you in a lurch.

I have been producing hydroponic lettuce for twelve years now. In the past I've used kids pools to float a Styrofoam raft with holes cut for net pots outside. The past six years I've gone to totes and used the Kratkey method inside. I'm older now and need to scale down and still produce six heads a week. I thought Id try this unit and maybe produce even more product in a smaller footprint. I started it up on September 1st with two week old starts, today September 14 I harvested my first heads off of it. I'm harvesting salad bowl, simpson now, the cos is doing fine but still another two weeks to go. I'm so happy! Set up was simple though the instructions are a little misleading, but just watch the video you will be OK. I believe the price point is about right. I bought the three tiered unit, 42 pods but remember after the lettuce gets bigger you will have to skip two or so holes for room to grow. If your thinking about starting out in hydroponics this is the kit for you. I did not used the supplied nutrients as I use Master Blend and have for twelve years and it has never failed me. I set mine up as a sequential plantings. Plant each level every 10 days and you will have approx 6 heads of lettuce each of the 10 days. PS though it isn't necessary for good growth I did add a small 1 inch air stone to the bottom tank and have it timed for 12 hr on and 12 hr off. Past tests I've conducted really showed it improves leaf size. Well I'm rambling now so Happy hydroing
