  • Still working after a couple years!
Style: 250 GPH
I’ve had this pump in a small half whisky barrel pond on my patio and after two or three years it’s still working great! For better or worse I just left it in the pond unplugged over the winter and come springtime it still starts right up again. My pond has gotten pretty gross at times and filled with leaves and bird seed but when the fountain level starts dropping it’s easy to rinse off the filter and put it back. ... show more

  • Good product Good product

Using the 250 pump for my 5gallon DWC reservoir. Works perfectly for my DIY water chiller. Ran 50ft of 1/2 tubing in a cooler & filled it with frozen water bottles, I change once a day. Keeps my water under 65° Been running this pump 24/7 for two weeks now, no problems so far, very happy with my purchase. *UPDATE: After about a month the pump is very loud. Still a good product for the price. I don't have mine submerged & I clean it every other week when I do my water change. ... show more

  • A Great, Simple Product!
Style: 250 GPH
I bought this pump for the purpose of building a rock fountain in my backyard. I had never built anything like that or worked with any kind of pump before, so I was nervous. However, when the pump came I saw that it was small, durable, and didn't involve a lot of pieces. (What a relief!) It has really cool suctions on the bottom, so I didn't have to worry about it floating around in the bucket under the fountain, which I actually contemplated before the pump arrived. Plus, there were several different sized tube fittings that I could attach to various sized PVC piping, allowing the water to flow up the fountain. The only issue I had with the pump was that it stopped pumping the water with the same force after a couple of hours. At first the water flowed over my rocks just fine, but after leaving it on for about two hours while I worked around the yard, I noticed the water wasn't flowing anymore. I tested the pump and felt the water being pumped outwards, just not as forcefully as before. However, the instruction manual is really simple to understand, and the troubleshooting area is really specific. I shortened the PVC pipe connected to the tube fitting, and cleared the air out of the impeller chamber just like the instructions said, and it worked just fine again. (And the diagram is a no-brainer. I loved it. They labelled every piece and showed where it is inside the pump, just in case you have to open it.) Overall, this pump was definitely a great value for what I paid, and I would recommend it for novices who want to build small fountains or ponds for the first time. Really... there's nothing to put together. You pretty much put it in water, plug it in, and go. ... show more

  • Cheap, long lasting, and works Cheap, long lasting, and works
Style: 250 GPH
Purchased in 2018, this has been in my outdoor pond for 5 years. Only this year, five years later, has it began to slow down and make a rattling noise. It's not moving as much water as it used to. I use this for a reverse flow (up flow) biofilter with appx 24" head pumping through 15 layers of green scrub pads in a ceramic flower pot (an EXCELLENT way to hide a DIY filter, BTW) Highly recommended for a CHEAP low head / low pressure / high flow pump ... show more

  • Pumps but filter far from adequate
Style: 250 GPH
Have read many of the other reviews and one thing has struck me: the filter. I am an absolute novice at this, but the pump was very easy to install in a small outdoor pond. Hooked up to a spouting fish ornament. After a couple of weeks, noticed how the spouting water got more like a trickle and checked the filter. Already when installing, I realized how small the filter was and decided to "drape" the pump in a nylon sock. A smart idea, because dirt and debris had gathered in the sock while the filter was clean and did not have to be removed, which can be a little cumbersome. The sock could easily be cleaned. However, the spouting is going down to a trickle again and I am afraid the filter is way too small for this otherwise smart, little pump, which is nice and quiet and very easy to install. Now, another week later, the pump is down to a trickle. Would not recommend for outdoor use. ... show more

  • Great Pump
Style: 250 GPH
Just got my 4th one of these, they're quiet and powerful. I have two mounted externally and two submersed and they all run great. My office chair is about 4 feet from the two external pumps and most of the time I can't even hear them run.

  • Sounds like a lawn mower
Style: 250 GPH
These are not built as well as they were 20 years ago. They used to last a couple years. Now you're lucky if they last more than a month. They start off pretty quiet. After a week or 2 they sound like a lawn mower. After 4-6 weeks the motor burns out. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find another pump with the same size diameter as the female input to fit my turbo klone aero cloner. So I have to keep buying these. It's a vicious cycle. ... show more
