  • Great blade, your tractor is the limiting force
For the blade itself it is great. Most problems folks would have with this relate more to the limiting force of the machine it is attached to. The installation is pretty clear, I did not need the video instructions but I am very handy. It took about 30 minutes to install not counting "get warm" breaks. The hand controls for this are about the best they could be for manual operation. This is not a high dollar full function hydraulic unit so it does not have a joy stick. I doubled checked the pre-assembled pivot mechanism and it all looked secure (I heard this was loose and caused damage to some units). I live outside Boston and we get some good snow. I have a Husky YTH24V48 24 HP bought in 2014. There were clear instructions for this model and other style frames also. There was ample hardware to mount to mine and other unused stuff for other frame styles. The lift and lower is flawless, the pivot action requires a little effort and cable tension adjustment but works well. I have had 3" of wet stuff, 4" of fluff and 8" of fluff so far. It is likely that you will need chains for the tires unless you have a nice flat driveway. Mine is a little inclined so it is tough to push the wet stuff or deeper fluffy stuff. My first full pass is always uphill which is tough for this type of machine (hence the need for chains) but after that I only do 1/3 pass uphill and 2/3 pass back down the drive way. I did not remove the mower deck (wanted the extra weight) but I will because it does drag in the adjacent snow drift and limit how close I can get to edges when the blade is pivoted left/right. I will rig up some way to add weight in place of the mower deck. Push your snow piles as far as possible early on in the season cause you will get more and these tractors do not have enough power/weight to push a lot of snow. ... show more

  • Stout unit. Fit my Cub Cadet GX54 after some modifications. Wife uses it and loves it.
Very stout mounting brackets, and sturdy blade with a metal rub strip. Apparently Cub Cadets and Husqvarna frame rails are the same distance apart. I did have to drill 3 new holes in the mounting brackets to align with the Cub Cadet holes, and grind a corner down a bit. It wasn't too hard, but I have lots of tools and equipment Only complaint is that the shoes don't go down low enough to the ground - they keep the blade 1/4" - 3/8" off the ground, so just removed them and the blade drags on the asphalt. No big deal. ... show more

  • It is great! Should have bought it when I bought the lawn tractor.
I used to think shoveling snow was a good cardio workout and used to enjoy doing it. But not so much anymore and I want to protect my back. So I got this snow blade. The package is heavy but not banged up. The cable was sticking out of package but undamaged. Took me 2 hours to install. It works great!! Now I wish I had just bought it earlier. Now I am hoping for more snow. I would recommend snow chain tightener Security Chain Company QG20030 Quik Grip Small Tire Traction Chain Rubber Tightener - Set of 2 and snow chains Arnold Lawn Tractor Rear Tire Chains. I just left the mowing deck on to add some weight. My driveway is concrete. So I don't think I need the snow blade skid shoes that was provided. I am going to remove it the next time I use it so that I can scrape the surface clean. ... show more

  • Setup and usage
The plow arrived early which was good. Setting it up was easy as long as I watched a YouTube video and not follow the paper instructions that came with the plow. The installation instructions that came with the plower very confusing and hard to follow. But after a YouTube search it took me to step by step instructions on how to install it. It was actually pretty easy to install. Took about 2 hours. I've attached some pictures that show the snow that I've plowed. It works really well. The reason I didn't give it five stars was because of the instructions. ... show more

  • So much easier than using a snow blower or, dare I say it, a shovel!
This blade is absolutely amazing for light or heavy snow, and even some ice too! I fit this blade to my Husqvarna YTH24V48 mower that I bought in 2015, after trying to remove all the snow we've received here in Idaho this season (so far, 30" and counting). The Honda snow blower just wasn't cutting it and after 3+ hours to clear my two driveways, I looked into getting something to cut the time and energy down. This blade fit the bill! It arrived in a pretty small box, and before opening it I thought there was something missing in there, but everything was there! Unfortunately, the packing of the blade is not very good and lots of parts were rubbing and banging around in there, which scratched the paint off the blade. I suspect that will turn into rust some day, so for now I've put vinyl over the areas until I can hit it with some Husky orange paint. As for assembly, I took about an hour, including dropping the mower deck off the unit. It wasn't hard at all, and laying all the bolts out on a workbench helps a LOT! As soon as I had it all together, I noticed it was hard to move around, so I got out my bucket of moly grease and brushed it into all areas that moved. As soon as I did that, all the squeaking and jerkiness went away and its quite easy to move around while clearing snow! Fair warning, the video shows the guy greasing the control rod, but there's no grease included in the kit, so you'll probably want to get some for this job. Even garage door opener grease will work for this job if you have that laying around. As for the clearing of snow, the first few snows I ran it with the supplied (and already attached) steel blade, but that will scratch up your driveway as it did mine, I've now replaced it with a 48"x4"x¾" yellow polyurethane blade from Fall Line (seller here on Amazon, see my review on it) and its much queiter and does a fantastic job clearing snow now. The stock steel blade also does a great job clearing snow and chips away ice if you take it slow and don't try to take much more than an inch or two at a time. Best to just get a steel shovel if its that bad anyways. Not much else to say about it, other than its relatively easy to lift, turn, drop and plow once you get comfortable with it. I haven't pulled the Honduh blower out since I got this, and with two really long and wide driveways, what took 3 hours with that snowblower, now takes less than half an hour, and I don't even break a sweat clearing 4 or 5 inches of snow now! Just an fyi, I've cleared 4 inches heavy wet snow, worked down a pile of snow and ice about 7 inches deep (that took a while, lesson learned! Never leave it around long enough to turn into solid ice!!!), and just an hour ago, another 3 or so inches of light fluffy stuff! I'm sure if I can keep the snow maintained, this blade will keep clearing snow down to a few minutes and not be such a chore any more!!! ... show more
