I very rarely give 5 stars. The reviews were enough for me to give it a try and purchase but I didn't have too much faith in it due to the validity of Amazon reviews. However, this is an excellent coat. It's thicker than the average fleece dog coats. My dog is 80lbs and you are not pulling anything over her head so I was surprised when she let me put this coat on with minimal resistance. The coat is thick, warm and provides full coverage. Pulls off very easy. I have not washed it yet so I can't speak to that. I ordered the 28inch. My measuring is terrible. The coat is a little too big but I kept it anyway. I am hoping this coat will last. It is worth the money. Will be ordering another color ... show more

Superb designers for this jacket! I was able to put her out to potty and play for most of the day without her getting hypothermic. Despite cold ears and toes the skin behind her front legs was warm to touch even on the night I fell asleep and left her out for a good 4 hrs when before she could barely last a half hour. You can adjust the fit at both the neck and shoulders to reduce drafts or conversely allow more ventilation for cooler temperature control after exercise. There is also an elastic band on the spine of the rear panel that can also be shortened or lengthened to control the amount of drape over the dog’s butt. If your dog will stand still there are also soft elastic straps to help keep the rear panels over the rear legs of a bouncy dog. I removed them because I will never use them as I need to be able to get the jacket on and off in under 2 seconds but I can see them being useful in another situation and have kept them to sew back on if I need them for another dog. A warning for more athletic dog owners: my girl can take this off on her own when she gets too hot and the other dogs will grab the jacket and remove it and treat it as a toy if they are left unsupervised. I definitely recommend this jacket for dogs who don’t have the body weight or ability to keep themselves warm in cold weather. ... show more

Love the Hurtta brand! They're definitely on the investment side price-wise but they're well worth the price for the quality of them. I recommend Hurtta coats to everyone I know that has any breed of dog! All of my German Shepherds have rain and snow variations, plus I've bought several as gifts for family and friends. They're very easy to put on and provide great coverage, as well as keeping them warm and cutting wind. ... show more

Very impressed with the quality and even more impressed with the fit. My dog is about 100lbs with a a deep chest, long back, and big rump. He is broad on top and narrow on his under side, so he doesnt always fit well in cookie cutter sizes. He fell between the 26in and 28in back length, but I decided to size up to the 28in since his rump is so big (he's half Old English Sheepdog). I'm glad I did as it fits him so well. He has a shaggy coat and I (and he) really appreciated that the materials didn't matte up his coat or cause him a bunch of static. We are avid hikers and wanderers. He runs, turns, jumps, wrestles, rolls, and plays hard in this coat and it stays perfectly in place. I haven't had to adjust it once during an outing. I really like the longer neck and back leg coverage, and that he stayed warm but was not over heating while playing. The materials seemed warm, weather resistant, and breathable. I like that I can cinch up around his tail so it doesn't impede his tail movement. I love the buckthorn color. Not too harsh of an orange but still bright and a nice tone in my opinion. I have a fat 65 pitbull shepherd, she's pitbull size, with the large German shepherd rib cage. At first I got her a size 32, way too big. Than I returned it and got the 20 inch, too small. Than I got the 26in, and it fits good. There's a reason most of the reviews are good, I live in the Colorado Rockies, and this jacket is super thick, warm and of quality. I hate how alot of dog jackets only cover the back, it doesn't even make sense unless it's raining, their warmth escapes through their belly in the cold. I'm officially a Hurtta fan now ... show more

This was so easy and quick to put on our dog. It feels thick but not too heavy that I do think it did keep him warm on those negative and single digit temp mornings. The fabric is also waterproof so it was pretty dry after playing in the snow while he was wearing this.
