The harness is a quality product. It did take me a while to figure out how to put it on the dog. It would be useful if they provided these directions & how to adjust it to fit properly.

The harness is super easy to put on, incredibly strong stitching. No between the legs strap to chafe or prohibit movement like running and swimming. Chest strap is designed wide and padded. The handle is useful to attach leash and I have had to use it to lift her into boat and into tall vehicles. Very sturdy and comfortable for my lab. This is her second one as in her old age (9) she has gained girth. First one purchased 2013, still in great shape,now donated. Also purchased one for active miniature heeler. Totally recommend over cheap trash harnesses locally available.

I have been through a few harnesses for my dogs. It seems all have trade offs. Comfortable, but not easy to get on the dog. Easy use, but cheap and won't hold up. Good fit, but awkward to get dogs legs in. You know what I mean. This one seems the best of all compromises to me. Slip over head/neck and ONE SNAP under the chest and that is it. Fit design, form and function. It has it all. Very well made. These guys are tough. One IMPORTANT word on fitting the harness tho. The first one I purchased was a little too big. A big chested, but thin Wheaton Terrier. No problem on the fit around chest (vertical) as there is a lot of adjustment range. However, the front of chest (horizontal) back to the main chest strap is not adjustable. Only adjustment is for the vertical strap around the biggest part of their chest. No problem if you carefully check Hurrta's fit sheet and measure your dog carefully. This one fits perfectly. Get that distance from the front of their chest back to the main snap strap and you'll be ok. I didn't need to return the other one that was a bit too big. My daughter has a Great Dame puppy about 4-5 months old. It fits him now . . . for a while.

I really wanted to like this simple harness with a handy loop on the back, but the chest strap is not adjustable and it was too short for my dog. This surprised me, because his chest doesn't arc out like some dogs' do, and he's not particularly big for the medium I ordered. The other odd thing is that the girth strap has a little "catcher" I guess for added security, but I found it difficult to get the strap in and out of this buckle/catch (even when the harness wasn't on my dog); it doesn't seem to be strictly necessary, as there IS a normal quick-release buckle there, too, but if I left this undone, it would quickly get tangled up in his long fur, as it's right where his foreleg brushed against his torso (right by his "armpit"). Seems well made and looks good on other dogs, but it just didn't work out for mine. (Hurtta's Y harness fit PERFECTLY though!)

When you have a Dachshund, especially a miniature with an extra big barrel chest, finding a harness to fit is very difficult. I have tried several styles and have stopped using them because the fit was uncomfortable for her. This Hurtta harness provides enough leg room and is adjustable at the chest. it slips over her head easily and has comfortable padding that hasn't rubbed. Her chest is close to 18 inches so we opted for the 18 to 22" and I am glad we bought the bigger one. it has enough adjustment to make it fit. very happy with this purchase.
