My wife misplaced the remote which came with the fan. The fan was not operative for the lack of the remote. She looked hard to find it with no success. Initially I found it with another seller. But here was a shipping cost which seemed high. I decided to look at Amazon. Happyily, I found it on Amazon. I took a chance and bought this remote which appeared to look like the one she misplaced.     • Did Not Work with my Hunter Apache Smart Fan
I contacted Hunter's customer service about which replacement remote I needed for my Hunter Apache ceiling fan. I even sent them a picture of the fan's nameplate. They stated that this is the remote I need. It does not work with my fan, i.e., it does not pair with it. I've returned it to Amazon for a refund. ... show more

I ordered this because we lost the original remote and we don't have pull strings on ours. I was worried it wouldn't pair up but it works perfectly. To pair you only need to turn it off at the switch if possible, otherwise use the circuit breaker. When you power it back up, wait for about 3 seconds and short press the pairing button and release. I got this because I didn't want to use the wall-mounted control that came with my new Hunter Fan. It was easy to use and worked straight out of the box... no "pairing" or anything like that required. I will say that the remote loses some ease of use by paring down the number of buttons.
