The media could not be loaded. Purchased 01/2024 Reviewed 03/2024. When I came across these I have to admit the styling of the product attracted me to it, but I read the reviews & even asked some questions before purchasing. They look ornamental when in place outside, someone glancing at them would probably think they are a decoration. They solve two immediate issues for me: 1) I needed to be made aware if someone was on the outside, esp. at night -- I had just had someone attempt to break in in December while I was home during the evening - these sensors now give me peace of mind & comfort knowing that if someone is prowling around they will be sensed & an alarm will sound inside. 2) I have an old fashioned door bell - for some reason most delivery people do not ring it, & most of the time don't even knock - they just drop packages & go. Now when someone approaches the door the alarm sounds - if I am in the rear of the house I will hear it and can come & see what triggered the sound. Now, as a result of the attempted break in, I have also installed lights outside -- but I'm not going to cover every nook & cranny with lights, these sensors add to my program of security around the house. I also got these birdhouses because they are solar powered - they are placed where they will receive plenty of sunshine to power them but as an added bonus - you can add additional sensors to the system & they can be a different model or style from the same company & they will all work with the same receiver. I intend to add a couple of battery operated sensors to cover the part of my property that doesn't get adequate sunshine. Most of the reviews are from people who have large properties -- but I live in a standard residential house in a regular neighborhood -- yes these work for me also. You need to be careful when judging where to place the sensor so you are not picking up regular everyday movement & having the alarm go off all the time. I placed my front yard alarm on a fence post at the boundary of my property & aimed it across my property to the other boundary fence = This covers my front yard (+front door) all the way across & the driveway also so any time the beam is crossed it goes off. I have a driveway that actually runs all the way along the side of the house to a garage in the rear & I park my truck along the side of the house - If someone tries to just walk on the driveway to the truck or garage area when gate is open,(or approaches gate @ night) now crossing the beam will alarm me. The rear alarm is kinda placed so garage rolldown door & rear door of house is covered if approached. Here's a little bonus feature - I chose the "wot wot" sound for the backyard, so one day I heard it going off & thought who could be in the backyard - I went to the window & found birds hopping around forging & sometimes when they fly up or down they cross the beam -- so while they are active I get a little musical interlude with the alarm sound sometimes sounding off. Now if this sounds off at night - that's a different matter! You have a lot of choice with what chimes you can use, some are very musical - several notes, others are brief. My only suggestion regarding this product, is to cut down on the number of the chimes & instead have longer playing chimes -- some of the brief ones might not be heard over the noise inside your house of everyday life (TV,microwave,dishwasher,fan, MUSIC,or just a lot of talking). Yes the receiver has lights that flash when processing alarm - but my receiver is in a floor outlet & can't always be seen -- if the chime repeated twice or three times, I think that would improve catching it. But after stating that, I've had no problem hearing my chimes, but I am alone most of the time in the house & I control what NOISE goes on inside the house (lol) Get these, they're cute & decorate your yard. They work - both as notification of movement &/or as a alarm of movement. ... show more

Many months after purchasing this sensor pair I finally got around to installing the sensors. One on my drive some 150 ft from the house base station and the other behind a steel building approximately 400ft away. Wow was I surprised that the one behind the metal building actually worked. It transmitted through two layers of the steel building plus lots of insulation and through the side on my home to hit the receiver some 400 ft away !!!!. The system is extremely sensitive and very informative, not only does the base have various sounds it also has the words back yard and driveway helping you to easily locate where in intruder or animal is located. The only improvements I could suggest would be to have less sound effects and more descriptive sound such as "side yard" or "rear door", or to have a record facility to allow the customer to record their own base station message allowing one to more easily identify the location of the movement ? ... show more

These driveway alarms are great! I'm not sure what to say except that they work exactly as described. I have two roads leading to my property, one nearly 100 yards away, and these let me know well in advance of anyone approaching. Each is set to a different alert, so I know which is which. The fact that they are powered by the sun and transmit wirelessly makes installation a breeze. They are a great complement to my video surveillance system as I can easily set them up in areas that are within the camera's viewing area, but outside its motion detection range for an even earlier alert, so I'll be adding even more. They're not just driveway alarms, but a great addition to any security system and for any location. The portability of the receiver and its self-charging backup battery is a plus, allowing me to carry it with me whenever I'm working in the shop or elsewhere on the property. Customer service is also excellent. Robin, of HtzSafe, reached out to me within days of my purchase to make sure that I was fully satisfied with my purchase. Fairly easy set up. Works at the 1/2 mile. BUT, if you live in a "pole barn" (aka metal) home, it may not work; does not work within our metal home that has blown in insulation. Very disappointed as I desperately wanted these for awareness of visitors when I am out & about with my animals & also, for when I am inside & someone shows up. Still giving a 4 star. ... show more

This is a great product! Easy to use and easy to setup. We have a long driveway and 3 dogs. I wasn't able to tell when we would have a vehicle coming up the driveway until it was here. So rounding up 3 dogs (that love being outside) was a nightmare. Now, with a sensor at the end of the driveway I have enough time to get the 3 dogs inside before the vehicle arrives. It holds a charge with the solar panels very well. The little mushroom alarm is adorable and easy to select the different tones for the sensors. I put the second sensor at the beginning of the driveway, low enough to the ground that it also alarms me when my dogs decide they want to try and take off on an adventure down the road so I can call them back to the yard. ... show more

Not a real 1/2 mile range. My driveway is 2450 feet (800 yards), not even 1/2 mile, no trees, straight visual to our house. The closest range is only about 200 yards straight visual. I gave it a 4 rating because I like the choice of different chimes, and it is very sensitive.
