    • Frustrating
The first machine didn't have all the parts and the box was damaged so, I returned it and had them send me a replacement. I thought I could start sewing right away but, I was sorely mistaken. Although the bobbins came full, they were black or white and I needed a different color. I wound the bobbin from a bobbin I had which was fine BUT, after inserting the bobbin and threading the machine, it wouldn't hold my thread, it popped right off! I had to use a bobbin at the top as well. So, I put all of my thread onto another bobbin and started to sew and, the needle won't go through the fabric! The sample they included with the machine is a very fine cotton. Mine isn't thick but it isn't as thin as the cotton. Although it is easy to put together, not going through fabric just doesn't cut it. I am returning this as well. ... show more

This is a nice machine for a youth or for someone who wants to learn to sew. It will preform all the basic stitches you need, and the reverse stitch option is helpful. There is no doubt this is a beginner's machine, but that doesn't mean it can't sew a quality product. The presser foot is just plastic, so I don't know how long that will hold up, and it will be something I am careful about. The extra large table attachment is nice - especially for a beginning seamstress as it gives room for your hands to work and be mindful of the motion of the needle. I am not sure the value for the money is there since there are nicer machines in this price range that are sturdier with more functions. All in all, it does what it should and will work for a teaching machine. ... show more

This machine is really nice and sturdy. It comes with a pedal and the cords to plug in. There are multiple stitch options and extra spools and needles. The tray area where you can let the fabric slide across when sewing sticks out further then your normal machine and is great for kids with small hands. The pedal is sturdy and easy to press. I would like it if there were finger guards or brighter colors indicating where string goes etc. and is why I feel this is for an older child 11-12 and up and not for younger kids. If you wanted to get this for a younger child, I would get one with finger guards, but since this was purchased for an 11 1/2yr old, it is fine for me. This sewing machine is easily comparable to any name brand sewing machine for kids and offers more stitch types then a younger child would use. I recommend this to any beginner or youth that would like a first-time sewing machine at a reasonable price. ... show more

This is a perfect starter machine. I love that it is small but does not slide around. It is a little more difficult to thread the bobbin but once you get the hang of that it's a perfect starter or travel machine. I have been sewing by hand since I was 6 years old. I have always been intimidated by using an actual sewing machine because I thought it was hard, but it's actually so much easier than I thought. Since my mother became a seamstress and learned how to use all types of sewing machines, this has been the perfect machine for her to help me learn how to sew and get comfortable with using a sewing machine. This sewing machine is well-made and very sturdy. Even though it is small, it does not feel like it's a toy. This is a good sewing machine for even an adult. I am 25 learning so I don't need the fanciest set up but this is a good starter machine. It's larger than I expected.
