  • A perfect replacement for those who need it and ends up ...
Works perfectly with no issues thus far. I had to replace my original 3-in-1 cable because my cat decided to chew through on of the wires that connect on the HMD side. I bought my Vive in April 2018 and this cable is exactly the same in size, length, and weight. I used to get an issue with fuzzy images as well as the display randomly going out, flickering, and producing a double image, but so far I haven't encountered that at all. A perfect replacement for those who need it and ends up being cheaper than the HTC website if you have free shipping with Prime. Hopefully, I won't need to buy another one. ... show more

  • Excellent cable that should have come with Vive.
The cable that should have come with the Vive from the get go. Five stars for the cable itself. Three stars for the price. Everyone buying this already has a Vive that cost $600-$800 and came with the ribbon style thick & heavy cable and they want $40 for the improved cable? How about you cut us some slack? I'm not saying give them away, but $25 tops is what they should cost IMO. $20 would be ideal. Still, I shelled out the money and am much happier with my VR experience now that the cable isn't noticed as much due to the lighter weight. ... show more

  • Great Upgrade
I was on the fence for a long time about getting this, I had the early-adopter Vive with the long thick cable that would pull on my head and easily tangle. I had to order a new Vive controller so I figured while I was already ordering overpriced replacements, I might as well get this. It's been a huge improvement. The cable doesn't tangle as easily and I can no longer feel it tugging on my head. It's convinced me to now buy a wireless headset so I'll almost feel no tether at all. Expensive? Yes, but I think it's certainly worth it. ... show more

  • My cure for HTC Vive Blackouts and Double-vision problems
Okay, so if you're shopping for an HTC Vive 3 in 1 cable, chances are you already own the Vive. And chances are you're probably having problems or issues when in the Vive, and perhaps you've owned the Vive for awhile now. Well, recently, while I was in my headset flying around in Xplane 11, the cockpit started blacking out on me for a few seconds but then it would be okay again. Then it would happen again, and more frequently over the next couple of days. After that, I'd be in the cockpit and then suddenly, I'd start seeing two cockpits, one in each lens and it would not correct itself, which essentially made the headset unplayable. So, I tried everything: unconnected all cables, reconnected them, including within the headset itself. I also tried uninstalling Steam VR and reinstalling it, and nothing worked. Then I checked some forums and another review on here for this cable, and suddenly I saw a review saying a new cable fixed the blackout and double-vision problem, exactly my VR symptoms! What I believe happens is depending upon what games/simulators you play in VR, after a time, the cable gets twisted and turned, and this eventually destroys the cable. In short, I ordered this cable, installed it, and presto! the blackouts and double-vision problems are gone, my Vive is acting like new again! Why four stars? Well, rating is subjective, and while my headset works perfectly now, I do think the cable is a bit over-priced. The other thing is, as much as I love the Vive VR system in general, I do feel their customer service needs to improve when dealing directly with them. One other tip even though I'm getting a bit off of the subject of the cable review itself. Assuming you are running your Vive VR system through Steam and Steam VR, you do not, I repeat, do not need to install the Viveport software they tell you to. A short while back, when doing a fresh install of my Windows 10 computer, I chose not to install the Vive software (you still need Steam VR) and just found the whole thing runs cleaner and smoother without it. Steam VR has the calibration tool and I think everything you need assuming you're playing Steam VR games. Yes, there are games for sale on the Viveport software, but I didn't like the way the window keeps opening and for me, the best, hardcore VR games/simulators are available on Steam anyway such as Xplane 11 and Elite Dangerous (which runs great in VR!) Okay, that is all. ... show more

  • A Must Have Upgrade
This is a must-have for early adopters stuck with the previous 3-in-1 cable. It's so much lighter it's ridiculous. Before I would always be hyper aware of this thick ponytail of cables pulling on the back of my head. But now, not so much. Not only that, the tangle problems are virtually non-existent. The tangles were so bad with the old cable, I would regularly have to hang the HMD from the cable and let it spin out the tangles. Much less now. The improvements are significant and decrease those nagging distractions that pull you out of your virtuals. Who knew that a simple cable could make such a difference? ... show more

  • fails after a few months
The quality of this cable simply is not up to par. it feels of high quality and works as expected but just as my original cable, the hdmi cable failed after only a few months of moderate use. I'm not happy spending $2500+ on a gaming computer / vive just to have to waist $40 every few months to purchase a new cable. Its an unnecessary expense and I'll be looking at other options like buying a standalone hdmi cable elsewhere that will actually last more than 3-4 months. ... show more
