  • Just what I needed!
Okay, so I'm a commuter and found myself needing a laptop computer that was light enough that I could feel comfortable carrying it (even while stair climbing) along with other items in my backpack, but powerful enough that I could watch videos without periodic buffering, even with several tabs open in the search engine I use. Naturally, you think that you'll have to sacrifice performance for the reduction in size and weight but not with this one. Not that this is as powerful or has as much memory as many larger models but it does not disappoint. I would advise you to take it out of S mode so that your entire experience with it doesn't revolve around Windows, unless that thought doesn't bother you. Next, download Google Chrome or Firefox and go to Ebay to buy a product key to install the latest version of Microsoft Office. Once that's done you're good to go. Just remember to keep this laptop elevated at all times to optimize its performance. If you use it for any lengthy period of time with the entire keyboard lying flat, the computer will overheat and its performance will be drastically reduced! I found a small top to a container that I now sit my laptop atop of and it makes all the difference. Just be sure that if you use a similar item to elevate yours, that the surface you sit it atop of (I use a sturdy pocket folder), is rough enough that it doesn't have a tendency to slide off, even at an angle, assuming you use it on your lap as intended. I think it's important to have some barrier between your body and any laptop you use to minimize any exposure to your body from whatever the computer emits while operating. ... show more

  • hp laptop
Color: Diamond White
okay I was skeptical buying this laptop , I thought it was too cheap to be that good to be true. I bought it only for school , to write papers , do homework in between classes. I was pleasantly surprised. its compact enough, light, thin, Microsoft and comes with office 365. I didn't know it had so many features, for the price I feel like I got a great deal! and I had a MacBook pro. I prefer this over that. worth the money if its just for basic use. it does have streaming-so you can watch Netflix etc, already installed. ... show more

  • Four GB of Ram is not Enough
As a bare bones basic laptop, this is great for those looking to use it solely for web browsing and school work and light Microsoft Office work. The minimum amount of RAM this laptop should have been built with is 6GB instead of the un-upgradable 4 GB. Just letting it idle uses over half. I recommend utilizing a class 4 or higher SD card and use it for ready-boost for virtual memory. As a 32 GB storage is slightly to small, I would recommend at least 64GB external drive. The system itself uses a lot of the storage. I recommend getting an external HHD as your back up drive and extra storage space. If you Chrome or other programs that utilize hardware acceleration, make sure you are doing so both on the program and through the graphic settings of windows to help take pressure off the CPU and Memory. Honestly other than the small 4GB RAM, I do recommend for the most basic of task. ... show more

  • Good for what it is
I use this when traveling and for times when I know I'm going to have a significant wait, mostly because I don't like carrying around my macbook. It's just fine. Fast enough to web browse (chrome), word process (atom or vscode), read pdfs, chat (discord), and do light programming (python, latex, perl, electron). It pairs fine with my otium bluetooth headphones. I play CK2 on it, painfully. The kids "play" their school websites (rstl math or something). It's about the same size as a piece of letter paper and about as thick as a couple of notebooks. Keyboard feels nice and responsive. A few tips: First, turn off the "reserved storage" for windows first thing, before you try to update anything. Expect that updates will take like at least a day overall. Second, get a storage card to put literally everything that's not a program on (and anything that is a program you can get away with). It's going to be tight no matter what you do. Figure out your backup solution now. Google sync or dropbox or whatever, something for when you drop this little thing and need to get everything you put on it off. Third. The angle that the screen looks nice is ridiculously small. It's going to look washed out most of the time. So temper your expectations -- you're spending less than $200 on a laptop, it's not going to be a powerhouse. Ultimately, for what I need it to do, it's just fine! ... show more

  • Not worth your money.
Color: Diamond White
Save a bit more and buy anything with a better processor. Don't say I didn't warn you. I have a chuwi device with the same processor and it sucks too. I figured after watching several youtube reviews I'd take the chance with this. I don't know what those reviewers have been doing with their HP stream, but you cannot be productive on this. An hp employee won't use this. Here's a little insight. I bought 3 of these HP stream: one from amazon.com and the other two from the Microsoft store. I decided to outfit my grade 3 classroom with inexpensive computers. In-class use: Although I used it sparingly over the past few months, students were able to engage in web-based activities. Over time I had to remove S-mode to install chrome browser because I needed access to certain chrome based store apps. Coronavirus use: I prepared the HP Streams by installing zoom, and Microsoft Teams, then I loaned them to students without devices. These computers were a disaster. The complaints were, their sluggish response, over zoom, they suffered from inconsistent wi-fi connectivity; Zoom meeting app, kept freezing, etc. I have decided to give them away as donations, and look for devices that are useable. My budget is $230 per unit. Suggestions would be appreciated. ... show more
