Let me preface by saying that other people may get a good example of this product and have a laptop they can swear by...that being said, this was not the case for me. I purchased this for the RAM and CPU, and having enough hard drive space so that I'd never have to think about storage again. I would prefer using a Mac since that is what I usually use, but some online coding courses require a Windows based OS. Reviews said that this HP Spectre was one of the best Windows-based laptops you could get for coding, so that made up my mind. Laptop arrived on time. Beautiful packaged, I have to say. All went well with the initial setup. After creating another email address I didn't want (for a Microsoft user account) and going through all the usual setup, I thought I was styling. Based on how fast it was loading interactive webpages, I figured that it would have plenty of speed on tap to run whatever I'd need to. I thought, OK, I'm all ready for when class starts, I don't have to worry about this anymore...cross this one off my list. Two days afterwards, without having the time to use the laptop at all, I attempt to logon and the OS won't load. I try rebooting, and two system restores; but nothing works: a few times upon rebooting the monitor wouldn't even initialize. Others time the keyboard was unresponsive, or the trackpad. At this point, I decide I can't trust this terminal with anything if it can't load the OS or have working hardware. So I send it back. I will say that PConline, the Amazon seller who provided this, did give a full refund, so no foul on them. I'd be perfectly happy to trust them with another purchase at another time or recommend them to a friend. But with the experience I had with this product I don't think I'll buy another HP again.     • Faulty device
The one I received was faulty. The monitor froze every couple of minutes, and I had to close/reopen the laptop to get it to respond again. When I had it hooked up to other monitors, I could see the mouse moving on those screens, but the laptop monitor itself would freeze. When I didn't have an external monitor attached, it was completely unusable until I closed and opened the laptop to reset the screen.
