I was soooo skeptical about buying a used/refurbished laptop online. But with the price savings, I was able to buy the 4 year protection plan through amazon and still save money compared to buying new. The computer arrived in awesome condition. The screen looks perfect! There are like 3 or 4 very, VERY small dings around the edges. I only found them because I thoroughly inspected the laptop when it arrived and I was specifically looking for them. The computer is so fast and runs like new. The specs in this laptop are really high end and very much worth it. The whole laptop itself just looks and feels high end. the keyboard feels awesome and the facial recognition and fingerprint reader are very accurate and super fast. The REFURBISHED laptop feels exactly like new. Mine came with perfect exterior, no signs of use what so ever, clean as a baby. The Spectre itself just feels like a premium laptop with top notch quality build and materials, and it also look amazing too. The hardware is great for the price of the refurbished model. You can see the screen is very high quality although i still think 4k isn't fully practical yet, as it will drain your battery and for some software and most games you will need to lower the res. The touch screen is good, but definitely not as smooth as a phone screen, but still I make great use of the pen in my studies. The only downside is you can't fully customize the buttons and they seem to work only when the pen is touching the screen which is useless. For students I think this laptop is great, depends on how much you value screen size and weight. All in all, amazing laptop, very high quality refurbished. ... show more

    • Great laptop, but terrible high pitch fan noise.
I bought the refurbished version of the laptop and it arrived on time and in pristine condition, in general I honestly loved almost everything about it. It ran general software operations smoothly, and the 4k HD streaming was beautiful. Despite its higher quality components (i7, 16GB Ram, 512 GB SSD, dedicated MX150 graphics), it is not however a gaming laptop and I would not recommend using it as such. But for all other intents and purposes, it's a great laptop. The fact that it has a numpad is fantastic, and I wish more companies with 15+ inch laptops would utilize the extra keyboard space and put in the numpad. I don't know if it was my particular laptop or this model, but whenever the fan turned on, I would hear a high pitch whine that progressively gave me a headache. Unfortunately, I decided to return the laptop because of this issue, and I’m still debating if it's worth trying to get another one. If the noise was simply a malfunction within mine, I would definitely recommend getting the refurbished version for school or work.     • Really great laptop at a very good price.
I shied away from laptops for a long time as I thought, because I had a good enough desktop PC that I really didn't need one. I was also sure I couldn't get used to typing on such a flat keyboard. So much of my life depends now on meetings via teleconference (and I was getting tired of having to to a friend's house so we could be on her laptop together) I knew it was time to get one of my own. I wanted a laptop/tablet combination and was looking at the Surface Pro. Out of curiosity I looked around on Amazon (price hunting) and fortuitously found this reconditioned HP Spectre 2-in-1. The number of positive reviews convinced me that this was the machine for me. Truly it is as good as promised and more than I hoped for! As one reviewer said, do not be afraid of a reconditioned machine. When we received it my husband was very pleased to see it was reconditioned by HP and factory sealed for shipment. It had been off for about a year, so the freebie programs it came with were expired. The good news is that HP offered their warranty protection and I took advantage of it. Some of the other programs I already have so I just got transferred then to this new machine. Bottom line is that this is a great laptop.
