Honestly been burned on a few "cheap" laptops in the past. This laptop is killer. Fast and reliable like the silver and black wish the bezel on the screen was smaller, but beggars can't be choosers. Only other thing don't love is that when it has an SD card inserted it isn't totally flush with the side so if you put this in a backpack with the card side down it ejects itself. My wife wanted a laptop to play Minecraft with good view distance. Everything reasonable laptop looked to cost $700. Craigslist had some crummy options for $350. Then I discovered this AMAZING deal on Amazon. At only $250 for a very decent laptop, great CPU, adequate graphics, 16gb RAM, I'm totally blown away by what good value for money it is. When it arrived it was at the "please pick your language" screen in Windows10 setup -- so I get a completely clean fresh install and a legit license. Oh, and it plays Minecraft great!!! ... show more

    • Don't buy this laptop... can't get thru setup, FAILURE. Bootleg Windows 10 OS-doesn't work!!
It's a waste of time and effort to buy this HP laptop, as I could never get thru OS setup 1) OS won't load because it is not a licensed Win 10, but a bootleg OS 2) touchscreen doesn't work, probably because OS isn't loaded 3) the screen flashed off and on several times, glitching, during attempt to load OS In addition, there are several major hiccups during attempted setup that indicate that the OS is a bad bootleg copy of Win 10 -- a non-licensed non-authentic Microsoft Windows OS. Nowhere is there any indication that the Win 10 OS is a licensed copy. this explains why it has so many problems. Bootlegged SW should not be sold as a genuine product. Shame, shame on the seller - PT ELECTRONIC TECH LLC - and on Amazon as well for allowing them to continue to market and sell this bootleg Windows 10 trash that doesn't load the fake Win 10 OS. ... show more

    • The one I got was never used
On the plus side, very well packaged. I dont think it was ever used, there is not a mark on it and the feet are not even scuffed. Window opened with "Lets get started, choose your language". I picked this one because I wanted a minimum 16 MB ram and lots of HD. The selling point though was the processor, very powerful for a laptop in this category - you can get better but you will be into 4 figures. It performs as i would expect so far. I even loaded WOW and it plays without a hitch, pretty god for a laptop with integrated graphics. Now for the one little issue I had. It would NOT work with an external monitor. Would not recognize one and gave a message that it could not use and external monitor "try a different video card or reload the divers". A different video card was not possible. I reloaded the driver and no good. I tried the built in windows tool to find a better driver, and it was useless as they always are. It did show the driver loaded on the adapter was from 2006 !! Holy crap, 17 years old? I was about to re-pack and send it back to Amazon when I decided to try one of those free driver updaters. It found a new driver from 2023, loaded it and bingo - it worked. A 17 year old driver....I was about to give 4 stars just for that but the 3rd party driver updaters are out there and easy to use so if you need to, go that route. Yes it is small and light and some call that "flimsy" but small and light is what I wanted. ... show more

    • Works great, like new except..
I received this computer the day after I ordered it, and it looked as new. I set it up, updated Windows, and found that the SD card reader didn't recognize any cards I put in it. It also didn't recognize another monitor plugged into the HDMI port. I took a clue from another reviewer, downloaded the Driver Booster app, and ran it to find and update drivers. Once that was done, the SD card reader worked, and the second monitor did. So, I am giving this four stars. Those two things should have worked out of the box. After that, I found the computer fast and so far does what I want it to do, but it does have issues running the latest Photoshop, but for the price, I am happy with it. I like the keyboard, and the fact that it is lighted helps in lower light. The computer has a very fast start-up. One thing that is not ideal is the trackpad. It doesn't respond to my input well, and it sometimes has to have my input twice. All in all, I am happy so far with the laptop that I am using to type this now. Two weeks in and It's been great. It charges fast, takes maybe 30 minutes to fully charge, and the battery life is good. The touchpad is great. I have never liked touchpads, but the one on this computer works great. ... show more

    • Great laptop for student learning
This is a great laptop for learning, I purchased it for my cyber security bootcamp course and it met all the specs. I did upgrade the RAM from 16 to 32 without a problem. Its fast, quick the camera works great and the audio is very good as well. Im extremely pleased with this laptop. If I had a choice I probably would have gotten the one with the Ryzen 7 over the 5 as I plan on keeping it for more advanced Cyber Security career. ... show more

    • Laptop is great but keyboard has issues...
Overall the laptop works really good, but the right half of my keyboard has a lot of issues. I purchased this laptop back in august and one consistent thing I have noticed is that the keys i, o, p, j, k, l, y, r, colon key, the apostrophe key, the enter key, n, m, and the number keys don't work without constant clicking and I have to diligently watch what I am writing or else words will be misspelled. I need the laptop however and so I am trying to stick it out even though I would like to replace the laptop. As a college student I was trying to save money and yet get a good quality laptop, but if the keyboard is not working it only frustrates the purpose of the laptop. ... show more
