  • Very thin and great screen
Style: Windows 10
To start, I am not a gamer, do not do social media and I don't use this for movies or entertainment. This is for work and business use only. Here are the good points: Is not touch screen. It is getting harder and harder to find a laptop without touch screen. Tablets need touch screens, laptops do not. Very thin but also built very well. No flex and hinges are tight with no play and yet easy to open/close. Battery life is very good. My useage is most plugged in but I have yet to run out of battery when I take it with me and not run off outlet. I would estimate well over 10 hours of non movie watching use. Recharged extremely fast. Screen is bright and easy to look at. I never use my laptops out in the sun so I can't say what it does outdoors, but my question is always why would I use it outside in the sun anyway? The keyboard has a great tactile feel to it and the key spacing and height are just right for me. It also has a separate numeric keypad which is a feature I demand in a laptop. With the SSD boot up and overall performance is lighting fast. This is my first laptop with SSD and I will be putting them in every other laptop I have. Unlike other reviews I read, I have not felt a y excessive heat at any time no matter the task. It always cool and I can't remember ever hearing the fan come on. If it has it is so quiet it can't be heard. The styling is the best I have had on any laptop I've owned. It simply looks and feels great. Now for the bad points: It is HP so that means 30 minutes of removing the bloatware and a little reconfiguring of certain features. I'm waiting for the day when I get a laptop from any company and when I turn it on is not branded with software I don't want or need, does not ask me every 3 seconds to sign up for some program or service I don't want, or asks me continuously to register. If I day no or decline, I mean it, not ask me later again and again. I want to turn the machine on, it has an operating system installed and that it all. I have my own software, I have my own subscription to office, and I don't want anyone telling me how to set my machine up. HP take notice. You make good hardware, but you seriously lack in the software department. Every piece of HP software I have used has caused major issues if it even works. Most of it is sales pitches to sign up for this or that. There is one major exception and that is the instant ink program for printers. That is the best thing since sliced bread. Never run out of ink, always ships I plenty of time and the cartridges are super capacity, I'd say 3x the retail version so they don't run low often or surprise you in the middle of a print job with an empty page. Shameless pitch for no charge. I have not found any other negatives in use so far. This laptop may not be at the top of the numbers heap in benchmarks but I always maintain that who cares? If the produce performs for me and does what I need it to do than it is a good product. This laptop does just that. It does everything well and without fanfare. It just works and that is the mark of good design. ... show more

  • Best laptop in 10 years
Style: Windows 10
I have purchased so many laptops over the years and all of them were disappointing and got returned. Crappy displays, crappy batteries and crappy drivers. This is the first laptop I have had in 10 years that came ready to go and works better than expected. Lovely screen - not touch which is a plus to me. Great extended keyboard which is backlit. Very fast, great SSD and the speakers are fantastic. Love everything about this. Windows 11 Pro way better than expected. Needed to do some work to it to make it livable but that's Windows for you. • Lots of bang for the buck
Style: Windows 10
Overall, this is a lot of computer for the money. It's fast, it's light, it has an excellent display. I don't like the track pad as much as the outstanding one on my MacBook, but it's serviceable (maybe I need to go into settings and tweak the left-click vs right-click areas). Though I didn't buy it for the touch screen, I am beginning to LOVE the touch screen feature. It wins out over the MacBook's Touch Bar although perhaps its not fair to compare, because the MacBook touch bar gives you options that might not appear on the screen. I have only two gripes; one of which was fixable: 1) My company's software requires Windows 10. This product was advertised as coming with Windows 10 but, upon startup, the software automatically upgraded to Windows 11 without providing me a choice. It was a bit of a struggle to revert it to Windows 10, requiring a couple of lengthy calls to HP, but I was ultimately successful. 2) There's not enough contrast between the key cap color and the key lettering in some lighting situations. With bright light on the keyboard, they're readable. In dim light with the keyboard illumination on, they're readable. In other circumstances, they're hard to read. Unlike my MacBook with black keys and lettering which goes from light gray (when not back-lit) to bright white (when fully back-lit), There is insufficient contrast between the key caps and the letters in less-than optimal lighting. I wish the keys were black and that the back-lighting was adjustable (maybe it is in settings, but the toggle switch only allow for on and off of the back-light) ... show more

  • Most bang for the buck from a laptop
Style: Windows 10
It is not the top of the line, even though it has the latest greatest core i7. I am impressed with its performance, video streaming and video editing is great. Multi apps open, not a problem. It is smooth and reliable. I have read other reviews about the screen crapping out, mine has never done that, keep my fingers crossed. I love it for what its worth. Higher video editing and streaming, a graphics card is req, so what do you expect from a shared memory w iris graphics. That being said, it performs well. I got the most bang for the buck. ... show more
