    • Excellent value for a competent computer, but with a major mechanical flaw.
Heck of a lot of computer for the sale price Amazon had. Finding the same specs for under $1500 would be very few if any choices. HP did it right too. The cooling does quite well. Testing the CPU and the GPU with Passmark brought numbers pretty much where they should be. The computer fan system isn't overly loud. Windows Pro is plus at this price point. Setting up the computer is the typically easy for a major PC vendor. Using the computer, after adding more RAM, for photo and video processing shows the computer can handle the tasks that I threw at it with competence, though not outstanding speed. All in all, an excellent deal. So why the four stars? Yup, as another review mentions the side glass panel can be extremely difficult to open. There's a press down button in the middle top of the computer to release the door hook latches. A sticker on the button warns the user to push an unlock button (sadly, no mention where the lock button might be so the user has to hunt for it or find some help online) before pushing the top unlatch button. Turns out the unlock button is on the top front somewhat hidden from view. Fine and good, if it worked! Pushing both buttons, and well, the latch hooks on the top of the panel would not release. I had to pry the top some, okay more than some, to get it to release. Not a good system at all and frustrating too. Oddly the other side with the metal panel works quite well, but that doesn't let the user access the top of the motherboard or GPU. Dumb system, for sure and surely will cause unneeded grief if all the models of this computer are like mine. All this extra work to add more RAM! So be forewarned about the glass release panel problem. Oh, and be forewarned that the computer is shipped in a nicely packaged box that is inside a HUGE outside box. Not a showstopper, but take some caution bringing it into the house, because it's almost as large as a living room chair. Adding RAM or whatever, yeah, the whole thing flies in the face of "frustration free packaging." ... show more

3rd HP Omen 45L in the house, first one is 12900k/3080ti, second one is 14900k/4090 and now this one for general use. Great machine with some updates to the fans and front versus the previous models. 265k is perfect for a mix of gaming and his adobe photoshop work, with 5070. Was a little concerned at 16gb but no issues so far, the other rigs have 32 and 64gb, total overkill, 16 can do 90 percent of what most people need, only a few games need more, mainly Sony pc titles, with the cost of ram, people need to understand what they need and how much, 16 can get the job done. Experience with the Omens has been fantastic and this one is no different, excellent cooling, easy to tune, xmp, turbo, done. Hyper X accessories are recognized by the machine, easy to update system via hp support tools, gaming hub is actually slick with game deals, lighting controls, tuning, freq updates. ... show more
