I adore this laptop. I had a Macbook Pro 16 for five years and it was the worst computer I've ever owned. I got this laptop and it's like cool water after being stuck in a desert. Great battery life, humongous screen, solid for games, easily upgradable in terms of RAM. The only flaw it has are the speakers, which are terribly low and don't match the standards of the rest of the computer. HP made a winner. ... show more

Great entry level laptop with decent hardware to back it up, although I found that out of the box, 8gb of ram wasn't enough and was the system bottleneck right out of the box. The system was lacking speed and fps while gaming. I grabbed a basic 8gb ram stick for $20, jumping the system to 16gb, and wow what a difference! 30-40fps gain instantly. Finally can utalize the great 144hz monitor with great screen quality. Battery life is lacking, but that's to be expected on a gaming rig. Sound quality is meh, and weight is right in the middle. Feels plenty durable! HP could retain a lot of customers with this amazing entry level laptop if they simply made it a 16gb of ram system out of the box. Do yourself a favor and upgrade that ram right away! ... show more

Laptops are perfect gaming laptops for beginners. I got them for my three kids and they play FF14 on them without any issues. Dealing with HP product support and customer service was a nightmare and it took me almost 2 hours to have a defective charger replaced.

1. Highgly recommend ram upgrade from 8GB to at least 16GB. Buy the ram separately and get like a Crucial or other brand if possible. 2. There seems to be no way to swith the primary gpu to the dedicated one (reason for 4 instead of 5 stars), which I would love, but you can set apps to use the dedicated GPU only. 3. Screen is not that bright, at all, but the anti glare coating works pretty well 4. Sound from the speakers is not the best, just good enough to get sound out 5. Power cable did not come with a velcro strap. Otherwise, just a good budget laptop, works great, perfoms great, cools really well, really fast as expected, worth ecvery cent. ... show more

I'm not a tech junkie but I've had this victus for over a year or so and it's handled very high res games consistently. Starts up faster than most phones. Will suggest though upgrading the ram and memory ASAP. You get a good amount of gigs after the updates but be aware. The ryzen core 5 series holds up graphics but ...
