I will add my voice to others who are dissatisfied with this purchase. My last computer was an HP and so that was my choice for this purchase. I do volounteer work and use Zoom quite a bit. Obviously I should have looked more closely to the reviews. From the others who have complained about this issue I'm led to believe that the only fix is to return it to HP to do what is necessary to get the microphone to work. Some have implied that the seller knew the problem and sold the computers anyway. With my 7-year old Envy on its last legs, I can't afford to be without my "new" computer for an unknown number of weeks. My only alternative is to purchase an external microphone. The other question, is why did HP allow these computers to leave their factory with this problem? ... show more

It almost felt like it was a cheap knockoff. It only had one small paper and no documentation about setup or computer specifics. It had no cushion around the computer. Seems to work okay, but I was very surprised that there was no microphone with this computer.

    • Decent Product, Great Features but with Audio Issues

This laptop computer comes with great hardware features (64GB RAM, 2TB SSD) and Windows 11 Pro bundled with MS office software at a very reasonable price. I was delighted with the purchase. However, I do want to point out that for the laptop that I received, the biggest issue was audio. It took me several hours to get the audio issue addressed. I wrote a detailed review of the audio issue but somehow Amazon won't let me pose the original product review. So, I have to rewrite the review. The issue is basically the audio volume does not respond to volume adjuster. It is either mute or 100% max. volume. Restarting Windows Audio services did not address the issue. Manually updating the driver under Sound, video and game controllers (Device Manager) could partially address the issue but it renders the input device (built-in microphone array) useless, meaning the computer does not recognize the audio input device. The only way to address the issue is to update AMD drivers (Amazon does not allow me to post the link here). Look for "Auto-Detect and Install Driver Updates for AMD Radeon™ Series Graphics and Ryzen™ Chipsets". Now, the drivers update was able to address the audio issue I encountered with my laptop. The readers have to make their own assessment if they run into similar audio issues. Hope this helps. ... show more
