I gave this item 4 out of 5 stars because it’s a bit slow for a monochrome laser printer. However, for about $100 and 6 months fre trial Instant Ink. It was an excellent deal. It’s still basically new, but I’ve printer over 500 sheets and have used up one toner cartridge that came with the unit. For the tech geeks out there…this printer tends to print dark. So if you want the best quality B&W image printed, just use the software from HP, or lighten the printing right in the machine. It also makes copies and you can get an auto feeder if needed. I’ve been an HP printer owner way back when they were putting out massive size laser jet printers. My first was the Laserjet II. It weighed a ton. But it was very fast with excellent print quality right out the box. Long before wireless, too. I also currently have an older Officejet color printer with all the bells and whistles when I was running my own retail store. Still running great and other than the crazy expensive toner which HP doesn’t have and savings plans for. I’ve only had one breakdown. The printer head gave out after over a decade of constant use. I think that’s the quality people should expect from HP even if made outside the USA. ... show more

Price: I was little confused with various model extension dwe and dw and the ink subscription feature etc.. I could not understand why DW model is $100 more expensive. I bought DWE at $168 and only thing it requires is internet to operate because it works with HP smart app. I have no issue so this is perfectly fine for me. Quality: the look, feel, size, sturdiness everything is better than I thought of. flatbed glass scan lid has the perfectly smooth surface so when you scan document you do not have to put plain white paper on top. Setup/Use: note that it requires to download the HP Smart app to setup the printer. It took me total 5minuts to download the app, finish initial set up over the wifi and print fist test page from my phone as well as from the laptop. Scanning/Printing right from the phone is the feature I like most and it cannot be easier than this. App itself is well guided and great user interface. and yes, it does scan documents in color. This model does not have any usb/memory card slot which is fine for me. everything you can do right from your phone. Ink/Toner: Biggest criteria for me to buy laser printer was Ink/Toner cost. for inkjet printer most times I do not have enough usage and once the ink is opened in 4-5 month it will dry out even w/o much use. I will see how this laser toner works out and how long it lasts. I did not sign up for 6moth free ink program because I am not good at remembering and canceling such things. The price for the normal toner (134A ) is about $50 and $80 for high yield toner (134X) which is fine with me. Warranty: 2 years of Manufactured Warranty. :) ... show more

I needed a printer for my office and chose this one because it had good reviews and a great price. It was easy to install by following the instructions at the link. You will need to install the software and open an HP account to do so. Just have the specific make and model number handy. No cable is needed as it connects to your computer or phone through WiFi. It is easy to use and prints quickly. I appreciate the fact it has a compact design and does not take up too much desk space. The copier / scanner feature also works very well and produces very nice looking copies. Though I have yet to need to replace the toner cartridge, it looks easy enough. The top of the unit opens up to reveal the toner cartridge inside. I am very happy with my purchase and think you will be too. ... show more

Unless you are willing to buy a USB printer cable, don't bother because the wi-fi HP setup instructions are complicated and requires more than 1 attempt if you have a Chromebook

looks nice, great printer, I like that it has a scanner, horrible software 45 minutes to install with lots of bugs, dependencies on windows app store. Also locks you in to only buying HP cartridges and immediately tries to sell you a subscription service.

The printer itself is excellent but you are required to register this printer with HP Smart. If you skip this step, the printer will stop printing. This is part of the HP+ program. There are benefits to being enrolled but I declined this offer. This is possible through the setup. If you reset the printer, the printer will lose contact with HP, and you will need to register again. If not, the printer will stop printing again. If HP can move away from this model and simply allow installing drivers, I would give this printer 5 stars. The print speed is excellent and its relatively quiet. ... show more
