Running a home business with 2 kids in college, we were looking for a computer with speed and a decent amount of storage. This laptop met our needs. Getting the price reduced with Prime Day helped too. I was lil worried about not getting a 17 inch screen, but it is not as noticeable as I thought. The well-lighted keyboard makes using it in low light completely doable -- we've had laptops rendered unusable because of no lit keyboard or the keys were too dim. Trying to save a buck or two with i3 or less procs is not worth it, especially for laptops where quickness is crucial, so the i7 is nice and worth it. ... show more

I've been through two of these laptops now. The first died entirely after a couple of days and had to be returned for a refund. The second laptop I purchased was confirmed new from Amazon with tamper tape on the packaging. After a few days, the keyboard stopped working. Not just a driver issue, hardware failure according to the HP diagnostic tool. Both of these laptops sat on a desk for the entire time they were used before failing. I'm not sure if Amazon abuses these machines before delivery or if HP isn't what it used to be, but I've been using the same HP Elitebook workstation for 4 years at my current job and it has survived many plane rides and very inhospitable environments around the world. Save yourself the potential of receiving a broken laptop and just buy at a store or direct from the manufacturer. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I have been using a compact 14-inch laptop with an 11th generation Intel i7 processor for a couple of years which I've liked. The current model of my existing laptop is priced comparably to this HP. I had the opportunity to get the "latest and greatest" Intel technology in this laptop so I gave it a shot. This laptop has many cutting-edge features that are excellent: Brand new 13th generation Intel i7 CPU 16 gb memory Wi-fi 6E technology 1 TB solid state drive 5 MP camera 2 fairly large (for a laptop) and good sounding speakers by the keyboard It has a lighted keyboard with a nice touch and the Intel Iris xe graphics immediately recognized the two external monitors I attached (see picture) via the two USB-C ports and stretched my desktop across them without me having to adjust any settings at all-awesome. The included "bloatware" is kept to a minimum and the touch screen works quickly and flawlessly (see attached video). I have a wi-fi 6 network and 300MB/S internet and the laptop's wi-fi delivered almost full wired speed (see attached picture with speedtest results). There are only a couple of slight negatives that are not major issues. First, the battery size and life are acceptable but average. My other smaller laptop has a 67 WHr 4 cell battery and this one has a 51 WHr 3 cell battery. I'm not sure if the smaller battery is to save weight or cost but it would have been nice to have a larger battery as the battery life is noticeably shorter on this laptop vs. my other. Also, the charge time while still fast is slower compared to my other laptop with the bigger battery. I had run this laptop down to 18% remaining battery and plugged in the charger. It took 1 hour and 20 minutes to get to a 93% charge; not bad by historical standards but not super fast. This laptop comes with Windows 11 Home and I would have preferred Windows 11 Professional as I do use the remote desktop connection to connect across PCs on my network and this feature is missing in the Home version. Lastly, the brightness rating on this screen is 250 nits vs. 400 nits on my other laptop. The screen's brightness is still more than adequate, and my guess is that the brightness is limited to preserve battery life and cost. This is not a "power user" laptop (nor is it priced as one). It is missing a couple of features that power hungry users may want and will have to get in another laptop. The PCI bus on this laptop is gen 3 not gen 4. So while you have a big solid state drive on this laptop, it is much slower than a PCI gen 4 bus SSD. The data transfer rate (see attached picture of test results) was 3254MB/s read and 2741MB/s write on this laptop. A PCI gen 4 laptop would have data transfer rates at double these rates. The memory is DDR4 memory not DDR5 or LPDDR4x so you are a generation behind here as well. I did do some additional research and found that laptops with these features are definitely priced higher, so this is not a "ding" on this laptop. And even without these features, this laptop has excellent performance that will satisfy the vast majority of users. All in, this is a robust offering from HP at a competitive price that gives great bang for the buck. The 2-in-1 folding screen allows you to use the touch screen and computer like a tablet and the other technical specs will provide performance that is well beyond the needs of most users. My only issue with this laptop, that I'll get out of the way quicky, is that you really should opt for the 400 nits panel. The 250 nits panel I have has less accurate colors and can get washed out in strong lighting environments. The bad out of the way, this is a wonderful laptop for a variety of uses. It's plenty powerful to do most daily tasks with ease. Light video editing, photoshop, Illustrator, a multitude of drawing/painting apps, this laptop handles them all with ease. The laptop is made very well. All seams are tight fitting and there is little to no flex to the unit and the top deck. The keyboard is good as far as laptop keyboards go. The specs are quite good, maybe bumping up to 32GB of RAM wouldn't Hurt if you do memory intensive work or like to have 45 tabs open in your browser at once (I don't do that, I swear). The 1TB SSD in my unit is a WD Blue drive that is plenty speedy for most tasks. The on board graphics handles everything but high end gaming like a champ. I sourced a MPP 2.0 pen and it works well with the screen. I am no artists, but its kind of fun attempting to draw and paint with good pressure sensitivity. I haven't used this laptop in "tablet" mode a ton, but the option is nice to have. The built in speakers sound pretty good so long as the laptop is sitting on a table for the sound to bounce off from. A Windows hello compatible camera tops this off and makes access super easy, I won't miss passwords every time my device goes to sleep. All in all I feel you get a well specced machine here for the money, just wish is had the better screen and I would have zero complaints.
