I was a little concerned about some of the negative reviews but realized that most bought from a different vender. I decided that since I wanted a budgeted Christmas I would go this route since the overall was good. I couldn't have been happier on its arrival. SkyTech sent a unit that looked like new with the advertised 8g RAM and Windows Pro. It registered in minutes and was good to go. So thanks to both the vender and those unhappy people that named their vender. I would point out from experience if you choose alternate venders their is an option to look at their satisfaction rates as well as the initial vender on the product. This one was really good overall and I now have a good unit for my purposes at an excellent price. I alo note that the traditional hard drive suits me best as I tend to use a lot of storage creating graphics that is saved only till a final image is done...then excess erased. Solid state may be cooler operating but much like my experience with flash drives don't seem to hold u as well to erasing and/or overwriting. Best to all. UPDATE The fan motor is intermittent and the back cover fell off one day. While the exterior is pristine the interior not so much. Nasty. The back cover appeared to have been forced in place instead of working the lock switch that is right there in sight. Since I already passed my old one along and I don't want to go meout I guess I'll have to buy a new fan and fix the cover somehow. I am reducing my stars to two as it's high for a project but still knowing the rest is good leaves some value. Had this not been caused by shoddy workmanship I would return and wait perhaps but not sure of time away and I'd have to remove all my personal files. Really kind of disappointed because such care was took where it showed I expected it inside too. I hope you can work on one yourself or have a computer person. I'm laid up waiting on a new knee and it should be extra fun trying to get someone to bring stuff from my shop to my chair where I'm mostly living till the surgery ... show more

    • Solid, quick, long-lasting.
I bought this laptop in January to use in a coding class. It has done some heavy computing for a few hours straight from the battery and has never given me any problems. There was light wear and tear on mine, but nothing more than cosmetic and nothing that hindered the performance or screen visuals. The hard drive was too loud and slow for my taste so I bought a 250 SSD for about 30 dollars and switched it out. Easy process. The touchpad driver was out of date when I first got it and was really acting up with windows 10. Quick upgrade fixed that. So at first I loved this laptop and was relieved that it worked well for my adobe photo editing program. But a couple weeks go by and the charging port just didn’t seem to be working well, eventually the charging port stoped charging it and the battery completely died. It could no longer be turned on and I had to send it back. It’s a shame that that happened, I am now to scared to get another refurbished laptop again. I just don’t know if the next one will just have different problems. ... show more

My daughter ordered this computer for college. It's lightweight and portable. Great screen quality, nice design, the computer looks really good. Computer's battery came dead, but they replaced it right away, albeit with a non-HP battery. Only reason they don't get one star. Components sound like they are struggling to work. I would give this product 91 days before it completely dies. More than likely another 3rd party electronics product that does not work, but I'll give it a chance.
