We haven't had the Chromebook for long, so this review would be subject to change. (As of 09/08/21) We bought this for my wife, who uses it primarily for emails and web search, etc.. Simple to use and much faster than the laptop she had been using. I read reviews on a lot of Chromebooks in this price range before we made the purchase and I think it was the right choice. Screen quality is very good. Lightweight. Holds charge for a long time. I think the only negative is that sometimes the keys are difficult to read in the wrong light. I gave this product 4 stars because now that its finally connected to wifi its quite nice. The 14in screen is perfect for me. Not too small or too big. The 1080 HD is definitely worth it. Great sharpness and clarity when it comes to picture quality. I love the keyboard. Keys are soft touch keys and don't make a lot of noise and the backlight of the keys is a nice touch. For a good 24hrs the product has stayed connected to wifi. But after opening it and turning it on, it took several hours of getting it to stay connected. It would find my network, connect and within minutes it would unconnect. After much research, I learned that this unit only had Chrome OS 79 version. Chrome is now at version 81, so that may have helped the problem. I may still contact HP to discuss the issue and see what light they can shed on it. I called my internet provider and all internet connections are good. I have never had any issues with any device in my home connecting to my wifi. So fingers crossed this nice Chromebook stays connected! ... show more

At just under $300 with tax, this still seems like a great deal. The screen is awesome: 14.0-inch diagonally, with full high definition (1920 x 1080). It uses IPS BrightView micro-edge WLED-backlit technology. The IPS (In-Plane Switching) technology is used in many smartphones. IPS is typically more expensive, but produces a much higher display quality, with better colors and a much wider viewing angle. This IPS display looks great. It is so so so much better than the older Chromebook it replaces. Battery and speed are good, and the time until Google stops supporting the software is June of 2026, which is great. Google "chromebook support life" if you didn't know that Chromebooks aren't supported forever. The speakers point upward, and are noticeably better than I'm used to. Everyone has a different budget and objectives, but found what I wanted: awesome picture; loud and very good sound quality; good battery and processor speed. I was not disappointed. ... show more

I purchased this HP Chromebook 14-inch FHD Laptop, Intel Celeron N4000, 4 GB RAM, 32 GB eMMC on June 22, 2021. At first I was very happy to be able to get away from Windows based HP Laptops because I was not happy with the changes Windows kept making. (before the update to Windows 11) I loved how easy it was to set up the Chromebook. It took me a little while to figure out the differences between this Chrome OS & the windows based laptops I have previously owned. I was doing well until this afternoon, when for No Obvious Reason the Screen Went Black and the Power Button is Not Responding. I stepped away from it to go get my mail from my mailbox. No more than 5 minutes I know there was still some power to the Chromebook, because the cooling fan I had plugged into it since day 1 was still lit up, however, there was absolutely No Response when I pushed the power button. I now have to call Amazon tomorrow to find out who I should speak with regarding the HP 1 yr warranty, as Amazon's return window closed in July of 2021, 30 days after I purchased it - SAD TO SAY AS OF THIS WRITING 1/8/2022 MY HP CHROMEBOOK IS TOTALLY USELESS. FOR THE $250 I PAID FOR IT ON JUNE 22ND 2021, I EXPECTED IT TO FUNCTION FOR MORE THAN 6 MONTHS & 17 DAYS ... show more

I am not computer savvy and Chromebook vs laptop type of computers. Thought I was getting it pre loaded with office, yahoo and Google. All software is Google so getting yahoo email or products not Google is challenging. Also one page directions were not helpful in directing how to do things or what can be done with computer. I was hesitant to buy this (my first ever Chromebook) due to the range of Chromebook prices being so expansive. However, I bought it at $250 to mainly use by myself and my wife as an 'armchair' media consumption device. I watch a lot of YouTube on it and do general web surfing with it. My wife uses it for web surfing, creating curbside pickup grocery orders, shopping Amazon and emails. . It's perhaps the best computer purchase I've ever done. I had absolutely no issues with connecting to multiple wifi systems. The screen is very sharp and clear, the backlit keyboard is super nice, it's reasonably thin, has great battery life, resumes from sleep quickly, and the speakers are decently loud and clear. I'm 150% happy with my purchase but will definitely come back and update my review should things change. ... show more
