    • Love the Printer, But the Ink Price Increases are Consumer Gouging of the Worst Kind
Price increased - from 16.97 to 22.97 - a huge of 35%. Outrageous! So, for a full cadre of ink, (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and XL black), the price went from approx $85 to $111, before tax, in barely over a year. I realize I can save by using 3rd-party inks, but the reviews are very mixed. In addition, the HP firmware reporting tries its best to make the substitution process difficult-to-impossible, and I also don't want to risk fatally clogging the print heads using a bad or leaky ink cartridge. The OfficeJet 8600 all-in-one printer has performed admirably, best one ever (so far) - but this stinks! If the ink price increases continue, I will probably switch to the high-capacity Epson strategy. ... show more

This cartridge did not work in my hp 8620 printer. I tried it several times. The printer read: "The indicated cartridge is not intended for use in this printer." It looks exactly like an hp 951 cartridge and the packaging looks like the manufacturer's packaging. The box has the compatible printers on it, and the 8620 is included. None of the other cartridges I bought at the same time worked, either. I took photos of the packaging, a cartridge, my printer's error message, and my printer model. Whether these cartridges are a knock off or intended for use in a country outside of the USA, I don't know, but I wasted a lot of money on them. Both the cartridges and boxes state: "For use only in U.S. and Canada." I could not even force these through. The generic Softek cartridges sold by Amazon work great in the hp 8620 printer, as I found out after trying these. ... show more

I had ordered non-HP brand cartridges a while ago. They worked well. At some point after I put those in use, my printer stopped printing. It was odd, parts of the printed page would be missing. Not smeared or faded, just missing. I was looking for a new printer when a friend told me I should try to clean the print head. I took things apart figuring I couldn't break it any worse. After a bunch of manual cleaning and installing new HP cartridges, the printer went back to working. That was months ago and the printer is still working. I will stick with HP brand. Dnno why my printer will not print in only black if one of the colors is out. But this came in just a couple of days. The strange thing is. I ordered things a day or three before this via prime and this showed up first. before food stuffs, before crafting project stuff, before clothes.. Apparently the new protocol for shipping means that printer INK is more important than anything else ... show more

    • Expensive, but unavoidable
These things empty just way too soon, the way they are designed, we barely print on our home office printer, but the ink cartridges keep wanting replacement. Also, rather than allowing it to print even if one kind of cartridge may be low (say it's low on magenta and you just wanted to print a black and white document) it will still refuse to print! I find these tactics low and I can't blame those who use non-genuine cartridges or injection refilling. I probably will still continue with HP cartridges for simplicity, but it is expensive. ... show more

Beware! I have an HP Pro 8600 printer. On Amazon, the product information for this ink cartridge specifically states that it is made for my printer. I order two yellow cartridges (#951 - Yellow). When I loaded them (I tried both) into my printer it says they are not compatible with my printer. I took it out and put it back in several times to make sure I was inserting it correctly. Same notification - incompatible. I double-checked the product description and numbers on Amazon just to be sure and yes, it does say it is compatible with HP 8600. However, although the cartridge box says 951, on the side, in small print, it does not list the 8600. It's too late to return. Beware of false product information. ... show more

It's really ridiculous to try to review this item. It's an ink cartridge, and sheerness and thickness have nothing to do with whether it works or not. All HP ink cartridges work great, and this one was no exception.

    • VERY disappointing
Terrible! It lasted 10 days with fairly light use. I replaced another color cartridge at the same time and that is still showing nearly full. And - No - I did not print out a thousand pictures of the sun - 90% of what I print is black and white documents.
