  • fantastic
Style: 64GB RAM|2TB SSD
I love this computer! it has everything i wanted. fast startup, backlit keyboard, touch screen is perfect. i use this as my personal computer. i won't use all the functions, but the quality is what i wanted. the setup was quick and easy, the screen image is colorful and just as good as a tv screen. i've gotten other computers before this one and they don't measure up to this one by a long shot. i would definitely recommend and if i have to buy another one down the road, this is the model i will be looking for. ... show more

  • Yes, it is heavier than other laptops, but this is what I like
Style: 64GB RAM|2TB SSD
I did try to get by with another computer, but couldn't do it. My old HP is a 17" laptop, an Envy 360 from I believe around 2015 or so. It has become geriatric - slow, slow, slow and no way to really make it fast like a new(er) computer due to the chip in it that really can't be changed out. So the fact that this one is maybe a tad heavier than my older HP, they are basically the same size and I LOVE the size of the screen, the keyboard and the two things I got used to from my old HP - touch screen and backlit keyboard for late in the evening. I'm still moving over stuff from my old HP to my new one - the old HP had a 1TB HD so I had a LOT of stuff on it and it takes a long time to get them downloaded. I'm very happy with this new HP. The only odd thing is the speaker location - my old one the speaker was at the base of the monitor not where I rest my arms! Silly! Other than that, I'm very happy with my new comptuer. UPDATE: After working with this computer, I love the computer and I'm "okay" with a usb-c power cable, but the "head of the usb-c unit that plugs into the side of the laptop is not elegant, not great for moving the computer around - it just sticks out too far! I am looking to replace that section with a 90 degree angle usb-c head so that it doesn't stick out about an inch and a half from the side of an already large laptop. That really is my only issue - I like to sit on the couch sideways with the laptop on my lap and that usb-c head bumps up against the back of the couch, it's that long! The cord isn't the problem - just that large usb-c plug in head. Last Update: After 3 weeks my laptop suffered an irreversable error. It got stuck in a loop of trying to solve an error and could not get past that issue. I was resigned to returning it and then contacted the seller. They were prompt to reply, sent me a shipping label and I packed my laptop up and sent it back to be worked on and when the problem was solved, it would be sent back to me. From the day I shipped it to them to the day I received it back was 7 days (that included a weekend), so I can't complain about the timeframe. Received my laptop back and it is working flawlessly. I was given the prognosis and the fixes and was satisfied that this company did a great job in handling an issue with my laptop and getting it back to me. One thing they had to do was replace the hard drive so I did have reinstall everything, but hey, I'd only had it around 2.5 weeks before sending it back, so it wasn't "cluttered" like my old, very geriatric laptop from 2016 (that I replaced with this one). I am very pleased and happy with my laptop and would highly recommend the company to buy it from. ... show more

  • Hardware Problems - Warranty Not Honored
Style: 64GB RAM|2TB SSD
I would not purchase another one of these. The first one had a camera that was dead on arrival. I could not have it repaired locally, but had to send the whole unit back, after resetting it to factory conditions. The second one lasted one month before the hard drive quit working. Am still working throught that with HP as they try to update the CMOS, the BIOS, and are now sending me (for a $40 charge) a USB with a fix kit on it which won't work if the drive is truly dead. I loved the screen, loved the speed, loved the camera, loved everything about it--when it worked. Depending on the outcome of the repair process, 2 stars may become 1. After several delays, HP informs me that the repair cannot be performed under warranty due to accidental damage. No information about what the damage was, and no way to dispute the claim. As the computer has never been dropped, banged, or otherwise mistreated, and the computer worked fine for a month until it suddenly failed while sitting alone on a desk, I cannot believe their assessment. Since this is how HP honors their warranties, I will not buy another HP product. When the laptop was returned, HP stated that there had been an unauthorized modification to the product--to the motherboard, internal components, case, or original label. Since I did not do that, either the seller did it, or HP is is not honoring their warranty. In any case, there is effectively no warranty on this laptop. ... show more

  • Great Computer
Style: 64GB RAM|2TB SSD
I've used Dell laptops exclusively since the late 1990s and this HP blows them away. Boots fast, shuts down fast and has plenty of memory. I'm able to run Photoshop, DaVinci Resolve, Office, browser and anything else I want simultaneously without any apparent slowdown. Screen is sharp with good colors. I've been using it two months and can't find anything bad to say. Recommended. ... show more

  • Pretty impressed and would buy another one
Style: 64GB RAM|2TB SSD
I have been buying Dell computers for the past 25 years. However, Dell's website no longer has 17" screens at a reasonable price, and the Dell XPS 17 laptop no longer has a numeric keypad. This HP computer is half the price quoted on the Dell website for a 17 inch screen. I am happy with the buying decision. I got the 64 GB RAM option with 2 TB SSD. The battery lasts just over two hours when editing documents. The computer is relatively light, and the screen is sharp. The sound quality is good. The Wi-Fi seems to be fast, at least 160 Mbps. The computer is noticeably faster than the Dell Inspiron it replaced, but I guess that is what you get when you replace an 8-year-old laptop. The out of the box set up was easy. The only quibbles I have are partly an artefact of being used to Dell Inspiron laptops and the keyboard layout on the HP computer is marginally different (Home and End keys are swapped with the Pg Up and Pg Dn keys, which makes for annoying finger fumbles at times, and the Insert key is not next to the Delete key. I am also used to a separate Print Screen key), and the fact that I did not notice that there is no ethernet connection when I bought it. These are the reasons that I gave it an overall rating of 4 stars, but would not stop me buying another one should I need it. I would have given it 4.5 stars, but that rating is not available. I did notice that some versions claim an 11-hour battery life with streaming video. This unit has a battery life just over two hours when browsing the internet and using multiple Word files open. Not quite what I would expect from an advertised 11 hours, but there was no advertised battery life on the Amazon site for this particular model. I have Dell Power Banks, which are not compatible with the USB C power input for the HP (or recent Dell computers, for that matter), so they are now obsolete, despite remaining in perfectly good condition. It would be nice to have a DVD player, but I guess they are on the way out on laptops. UPDATE: I have to agree with other reviewers complaining about the touchpad. It is too sensitive. But then, I have a new employer-issued Dell Latitude, and the touchpad on that is even worse (just hovering over it with your finger is enough to trigger an unplanned action). I have dialed down the sensitivity on both computers, but even at the lowest sensitivity, they are too sensitive. Must be the trend in modern laptops. ... show more
