I spent hours comparing the various models of laptops - with this checking most of the boxes - with my first priority being that the OS was Windows Pro edition. It is my first HP so I'm going to be curious how well it holds up. I'm not one to buy a new laptop just to have the newest, the fastest, or the best - I live quite contently with old technology for 'ages'...this one replacing my circa 2010 Windows 7 Pro. :-) So far, so good. Setup was a breeze, of course. Gone are the days when you need to allot a whole day setting up your new computer. I go back to Windows 3.1 - so I've seen my share of setups. :-) It's fast; not at all clunky - love the wider screen and the number pad - and it looks very nice! Still not a huge fan of Windows 10 - but like everything, it will grow on you over time. Battery life is quite good: almost 4 hours on full charge. However, there is one thing about this laptop - that I don't think I even thought about when I was doing my research - that I do not like: the keyboard colors: grey on grey. I admit, they look very crisp and clean - but in practical use, under the wrong lighting it can be very difficult to see the keyboard. I do wonder how long they will remain readable, as they appear printed on. I rarely look at the keyboard - but for someone who does or if they work under less than ideal lighting conditions, I could see this as a potential problem. Someone asked in the Q&A if the keyboard was backlit - the answer from a purchaser was yes; mine was not - that would have been nice. Although I did not receive the thumb-drive as indicated in the description - it was no biggie; I have plenty. And although mine got lost at my local post office for a few days, shipping was right on time - and that was important. ... show more

Product description clearly shows backlit Keyboard. After a 2 hour call with HP they say this model does not have that. I also can't return it because it's passed 30 days.

I bought this computer thinking it would be great with all the added components for cheap, unfortunately those added components are foreign made and were giving me messages in chinese/korean. When I first turned on the computer the setup screen was in chinese/korean and it took me a while to guess which button to press in order to get to the next step. Then to make things worse, after only 2 days it gave me a hardware error and completely wiped out the machine, and made me start over again at the setup screen. Im giving it 2 stars instead of 1 because they did give me a full refund, but beware of what you are buying. ... show more
